To go or not to go?

To go or not to go?

I am 34 weeks pregnant with baby #4, and I pretty much have everything I need for my baby (it's a girl). My daughter is 19 months old and I still have things that are new and un-used from her. I need miscellaneous things, nothing big....

Here's my issue, the other day I was putting FH clothes away and found invitations to my baby shower, given by my SIL and friends. I have said to them on many occasions that I do not want one, nor do I need one. It's supposed to be a surprise. Knowing my family will have something negative to say, like this is baby #4, why does she need another shower! etc. I do not want to go. NO ONE KNOWS, EXCEPT YOU (WHOM EVER READS THIS), THAT I KNOW. Please help, need advise as to what to do. Do I confront them and tell them I know and don't want one or should I blow them off the day they are giving it....

I'd go along with whatever they are planning for you that day (they probably put time and effort in to it...and you probably don't want to hurt them or alienate them by not showing up)...And then just yell at them later!

This is a tough one, but since you saw the invitation i think I would mention it to your husband and his sister and let them know how you feel about it and that you don't want a baby shower.

Do you know if many people are attending? Is it something small?

You MUST go! How can you not. Don't let this baby miss out just because it's your 4th. Poor little angel. They are giving you a shower because they love you and love this new baby too. You can't tell them you know. Just be surprised and enjoy every minute of it. You're baby deserves a shower and don't feel guilty over it. Who cares if your family thinks you don't need another shower.

i would ABSOLUTELY GO!

They are doing this out of love for you...be gracious, smile and go!
I would jokingly say that you never wanted it but it is a nice gesture and act...so i would act accordingly

It's never anything small when FH and SIL have something to do with planning anything. I just think that a baby shower is something you do when it's your first pregnacy or a long time span between each child. A baby shower is to help first time parents get started with their new arrival. I don't mean to sound ungrateful, I'm really not. I don't need much. The only things I do need are... An infant seat, double stroller , and oneies. In which we can afford. I have plenty of clothes, bottles, toys, stuffed animals, diapers, etc.

Is this FH's first child? The reason I ask is that maybe his family wants to do a shower for you if it is his first child. I know someone who just had her third, but it was the husband's first, so his family threw her a shower.

Enjoy and have fun. You don't get to be spoiled too often when you have 3 kids (soon to be 4!) your family can choose not to go if they are so annoyed by it.

No this is his second, our daughter is 19 months and my 2 oldest are from a previous relationship, (their dad is deceased, so you could say this is his 4th to)

I would just accept the shower. They care about you enough to do this, just grin & bear it.

Go, just think of the hard work the two of them put into it. There are a lot of times that people say they dont want some, when they really do, so maybe they are thinking thats what you want. Who cares what your family says. One pregnancy is not more important than the next, so tell them to go take a hike if they have a problem. Enjoy celebrating the life that your bringing into this world:)
