I'm having such a hard time! If FH and I go full throttle, we will each end up with either 7 or 9 on each side.....expensive. But we are having a large wedding. hmmm... Anyone else in this predicament?

Re: To have bridal party, or not to have....
We deliberated the same thing and used my youngest brother's wedding as a model. There was 23 people in the wedding party.....I cannot even tell you all the drama and b.s. that occurred. We both decided to nix the wedding party completely.....no MOH or BM no nothing. I'm asking my mother to be a witness and he's going to ask his father. To keep our sanity and to keep our budget down, this was the best course of action for us. It was a hard decision and part of me would absolutely love to have a wedding party, but when I start thinking of those to ask it just gets out of hand and before I know it there are 14 people. I also want everyone to have a great time that day with no worries. I know my SIL will be there for me and act like my DOC so I'm not worried about the things normally handled by the MOH.

We could have easily had more, but we pared it down to 7 each...I have 2 sisters, 2 FSIL, and 3 friends.

Re: To have bridal party, or not to have....
i have been in three weddings. my brother, my cousins & a friends. & to be perfectly honest its just asking for trouble.
for my wedding i am only having my sister (MOH), my 3 cousins, & my neices & nephew. the kids are no problem because they don't get to have an opinion. my sister knows what i like & what i don't like so she is in charge of all the wedding party drama.
i told FH that he can ask whomever he wants as long as they all agree to wear a black tuxedo.
we are not asking anyone until 1 year before the wedding. that will give the girls enough time to order dresses & hopefully less drama.

at first we were going to have a large bridal party (8 bm's) and then the more i thought about it, the more stessed out it made me. we are only including family now( 4BM's) and so far it has saved me a lot of money and leaves room in my budget for some extras i've been wanting. i'm going to include my friends by having them do readings and things of that nature.

I understand where you are coming from. Being in my sister and briother wedding it was drama. Then being in two of my friends more drama. So for mine, I made everyone a guest and we are the only ones paying for it. No one has a say. I want to enjoy the wedding with no drama.

I'm with the all or nothing motto. HUGE is not even the word to describe our bridal party because I feel you can't ask one without asking the other. I love everyone in the bridal party, but it's hard when you have like 13 people who all want to go dress shopping with you. But on the flip side of that, people do feel so honored when you ask them to be in your bridal party, and it is an exciting time that you want certain people around for.

we're only have 2 MOHs and 2 BMs, otherwise our bridal party would be huge and neither of us wanted that

We have an MOH and a BM. That's it. Otherwise I'd have a huge bridal party, and I can't handle that much stress or drama.

Re: To have bridal party, or not to have....
Sorry to jump in but for our wedding DH and i had 32 people in our bridal party and there wasnt one ounce of drama. Everyone was so happy to be part of our day. The only advice i will give is know the people in your bridal party. Know that they are the ones you want standing up beside you on your special day.

Re: To have bridal party, or not to have....
I think it depends on the people involved....my best friend from college had a MOH and 1 BM - the BM was not to happy that I was MOH and made things a little annoying. My brother and SIL had 14 in the bridal party and didn't have an ounce of drama.
FH and I are having 8 people in our bridal party - all family to avoid having friends be mad that we asked one and not the other.

We have an average sized bridal party and so far everything has been fine. I guess it depends alot on the people- my girls arent really drama queens or divas so there hopefully wont be any problems.
