to have nails or not to have nails

Original post by little j

so i put on fake nails for the e-shoot and then i cut them down for work...and i LOVE the way the short nail looks!!!

so natural, yet waaaay better than i could ever do and the nail polish isnt chipping!!! i am definately looking at my hands and my more!

so, i am thinking about getting nails done....but i know i dont need the expense...and its not really healthy for your nail

maybe i should wait for christmas time..and then those 4 months leading up to the wedding...

idk...i think i need to hear other opinions. i could reallly go either way

i was thinking of the LCNs, which i kno is even more $$.....

hmmm

My nails are usually on the short side; I've never had tips or wraps or acrylics...I don't even know what those things are, LOL! I'm such a boy sometimes. I will get a mani/pedi, but nothing um, added on? Is that the right term?

I have never gotten tips, or wraps or anything, one, because my nails have always grown really fast and two, I have heard that wraps damage your nails when you finally remove them. I do love how wraps look, I think the nails just look nicer with wraps, once you get a manicure.

I would really love to do silk wraps for my wedding, but I am afraid to ruin my nails. Should I be worried?

UV gel is the way to go.. doesn't damage your nails like accrylic

i get the UV gel permanent french.. doesn't chip or anything.. and you only need to fill them in once a month

ETA: they are my real nails underneath... just wrapped

What I mean is I heard, and dont laugh if I am wrong...they make your nails weak, kinda soggy after when they are removed????

i am not really a fan of the acryllic nails anymore but you can get silk wraps which require less maintenance and i think look more natural!

ditto

Not soggy, but your nails are REALLY weak and they chip and break very easily...you have to wait for your nails to grow out for them to be strong again and even after that its still taken me a little bit to get strong nails again.

I'm going to try really hard to grow my nails and not pick them off because (while they are really pretty) I hate the aftermath of silk wraps.

I'm not allowed to have nails for work but even if I were I still don't think I would get them... I hate the way they make your nails all weak and it's takes so long to get used to them. I just get frenches on my own nails every now and then, but for the wedding I def. want to get nails for the pics n stuff!!

I used to get acrylic nails. When I was getting them fill ins were about 20 bucks every 2 weeks. It didn't really do anything bad to my nails. U can get silk wraps instead or the gel nails but I think those might be a bit more$$$

I always used to have fake nails but then it got to the point where my nails hurt and it was too much $$ to keep up. Plus it's a lot less germy. My mom is a nurse and tells horror stories, why? I don't know..just to get us to not spend the money probably. lol

You can try virtual nails. They have them at Dashing Diva and I believe their is one in LI. They custom fit them for your nail bed and they are very thin so they look natural. They last for about two weeks and their is no need to soak them off, they will come off without your nails becoming weak. I think they are $35 www.dashingdiva.com.
