To have or not to have..

To have or not to have..

A videographer. I don't really have a preference either way, but FH is completely against it. I'm more about the pictures, which is why I splurged on our photographer. I've spoken to numerous people who say they never whip out their albums, but end up showing their wedding video, which is why i'm on the fence about it.

This is my logical brain working: If FH has no plans to watch the wedding video, will I really watch it if we get one?

What does everyone take into consideration when thinking about whether to do videography? Do/did you have any concerns about whether or not it'd be worth the money? Why did you choose or not choose to have one?

Thanks girls!!!

My photog does video as well, and I'm soooo glad we chose to get it.

He does 4min videos, they're like music videos, and he even did one for our engagement.... AWESOME

Check out the website, he really is amazing

I would definitely get a video! You might not want it now, but once it's over, you can't go back and recreate one. It is definitely something I think you will love once the wedding is over and I'm sure if you watch it, FH will join you!

We didn't have a videographer. It wasn't a big deal to us and we didn't have the money to spend. That being said, I wish we had gotten video for the ceremony only. I was so nervous that it was a blur, I barely remember what I was vowing. lol!

Initially, both my fiance and I were against having a videographer... until we saw my friend's wedding video. Video's these days can be so creative (if that's what you're looking for) and turn out so... 'cool,' for lack of a better word. needless to say, after seeing my friend's video, we were sold... contacted her guy the next day and we can't wait to have him film us for our own wedding! :)

We are getting a videopgrapher. At first we were on the fence about it but when i watched my friends video after her wedding it was so much fun to see everyone having a blast at the wedding that you may have missed throughout the night. So many things we forgot happened and were reminded in the video. I was sold after that.

THIS!

We were against it and didn't budget in a videographer, but we changed our minds after we saw a friends wedding video... then when we went in to book Michael, he definitely had the best product for an absolutely shockingly good price.

One thing people tell me they regret is not having a videographer. FH and I weren't going to have one, but decided to book one - mainly because we wanted to see action and movement - which can't occur in the still life format. I think video adds a new dimension to your memories.

We never questioned having a videographer, we both knew we wanted one. There is absolutely no way that you can remember most of what goes on during your wedding. It's nice to have someone capture the day. After all, it will only happen once. I definitlely think it's worth it.

I am not having a videographer due to budget reasons. It really is not something that is important to us. I am however, I am having a close friend who is a film editor record our ceremony for us.

I started out thinking I could pass it up and FH was all about saving the extra money...but as time went out we realized we wanted to have video of the special day bc there will be people there that may not always be around and to show our children.

Re: To have or not to have..

Two weeks before my wedding I decided to get a videographer bc I knew I didn't want to miss anything and I can relive the night through video. When I seen the highlight video I cried bc I was so excited that they captured his entire reaction which I couldn't see from where I was. It was so genuine and cute! :) they captured moments I never knew existed. So I say if you have a little extra in the budget, it's worth the splurge :)

I would get it. I think it;'s worth it. They'll capture all of the moments you'll miss. Imagine how much your kids will enjoy watching it!

We didn't pay for a videopgrapher but had my Uncle act as the videographer because we wanted to have some kind of video footgae. I'm planning on editing myself and making an actual video for us from the footage.

Before my uncle though, I was looking into film students to shoot it or to get pricing for just the RAW footage (but that sometimes can cost more than the video).

Thanks for all the input girls. You've given me a lot to think about. I may end up doing it on my own since when I spoke to FH again last night, he was still not thrilled with the idea.

Anyone have any recommendations for videographers who are decently priced? Our photographer wants an additional $1800 for video, and that's definitely not in our budget

Speak with Rob at Couped Up or Gil at Fade to Black

Both do awesome work and have reasonable prices.

Maybe you can just get basic coverage since you're on the fence about it

Re: To have or not to have..

I did not have one for the sake of saving money. I thought that I wouldn't really care either way since we would have a friend or family member film the ceremony. Looking back I REALLY regret not getting one. We had my mom's friend film the ceremony, or should I say the ceiling It's basically a waste of video and it makes me really sad I should have gone to a local college and paid some video student $200 to film the ceremony. I can never get that back but at least my photos were amazing.
