I'm in a bit of a bind and I need to know if I'm being selfish or unreasonable.
A little background - I'm trying to keep my entire expenses below 10-13K. We don't have much money so we're nixing stuff that's 'nice to have' but not absolutely necessary and I'm doing a lot of DIY (right down to the flowers). We're having the ceremony AND reception at the same place - not a fancy RH but rather the Polish Club (like an Elks, VFW or KOC). Here's my situation . . . We're all getting ready at my Aunt's - it's closer to the hall and a lot more roomier that my parents house, plus my parents are hosting A LOT of oot guests. My Aunt lives, literaly, 3 minutes/9 miles away from the hall. One of my BM's is absolutely insistant that I rent a limo (actually TWO - one for them and one for me and my dad) and I'm having a hard time reconciling the expense for a 3 minute drive. Limos go for about $65 an hour with an hour charge minimum, right?
My FSIL has a MiniVan and one of the other BMs also has a MiniVan. I don't see why we can't just carpool over to the hall. Mum doesn't see how it's necessary and FH is adamant that it's just a useless expense (he and the GMs are just driving over in their own cars).
Am I being unreasonable?

Re: To Limo or Not To Limo
I live 10 minutes from my RH (also had the ceremony there) and i did NOT do limos....i thought it was a waste. My Dad & Mom and one brother picked me up in their red Ford Explorer...my other brother & SIL and the kids went in their mini van...i had a small BP of just my 2 bros, SIL & 3 kids...didn't regret not having a limo either...here's my 'limo' shot...HTH!
I dont think they are necessary for your situation-for a 3 minute drive I totally agree with you

No....we are doing one limo not two. one becuase I want to be with all of my friends I have the rest of my life to be with FH lol. I would do what works for you. I would only get one if I wasyou b/c you are not getting ready at the RH. So it might be hard for all the girls to get to the RH in cars. But its your day and your $$$$$$$$$$$$$

I don't think they're necessary for you either. We're also cutting them out, since everything is in one location for us.

Re: To Limo or Not To Limo
In your situ...I wouldn't either....I could think of other ways to spend my $$ & enjoy it! (vs a puddle jump of a ride to the RH/ceremony).

Where do you live? The limo service i went with charged 250 for a 10 passenger lincoln limo. I didn't think that was terrible. If you don't want to waste the money on it, its totally understandable. Your going to get in and out of that limo so quickly you wont be able to even buckle your seat belt lol
Maybe you can get a livery cab? Like those nice looking all black cabs, i know its not white and wedding like, but its an upgrade from a regular vehicle and its definitely cheaper i am guessing than a limo. Just an idea...but i really don't think you even need to think anymore about this.
It's about what you want, and what you will be happy with. :)

Re: To Limo or Not To Limo
Thanks for the support ladies!
I guess I'm feeling guilty because I should probably do it so my BP is nice and comfy since they are supporting me on my special day. But so far it's just this one BM (there's 6 altogether) that's really pressuring me - I don't think the other one's really care.
Trust me, I would love driving through town (Port Jeff Village) all done up in a fancy limo. Maybe if I can find an 8-seater cheap enough but $250.00 for 3 minutes??? Grrrr.

IMO! It's just too short of a ride to spend money on limos. It's like taking a bus one stop

LOL.
The more I think about it, the more I realize we'll spend more time getting in and out of it than we will actually riding in it

I agree that I don't think you need a limo....if you and FH are comfortable with that....don't worry about 1 BM...
