To make or not to make

I am having a problem deciding whether it is worth it to make all of my invitations or just purchase them. What do u ladies think?

If you are crafty - you have time to make them and it's a great idea, just don't wait too long because then you have so much other stuff to do. Good luck.

I have almost no craft-skills and everything I attempt to make looks just a little bit ugly or silly (or like it was made by a five year old - hehe) - so I am buying everything (I can do favor assembly though )

If I was crafty I would definitely try to make my own invites. I think it would be fun (as long as they turned out nicely!)

It depends on what is more important to you the cost savings or your time.

If you don't really care about a specific type of invite you can get some very nice invites for under $300.

It will save you time (which was important to me) and won't cost you all that much more than doing it your self, once you factor in the cost of ink.

If you have your heart set on some very specific invite that is either out of your budget or that you would love to make yourself than you should -- just remember to buy extra supplies, because problems do come up.

And -- make sure someone else proof reads them. A lot of people have reprinted their DIY projects because of small mistakes.

I think it may have been fun to make the wedding invitations - i made the ones for the e-party, but I am way too busy with life to do them so I ordered them and I am very happy with them.

I made them, but wish I hadn't of...It was a major headache (mind you I am someone with ZERO craft skills)...If you were crafty and ambitious I would say go for it...but it just wasn't a great idea for me! Good Luck

Re: To make or not to make

As somone who has spent the last 9 months making invites, my advice is START EARLY and think everything through (I think I mentioned this in my FM to you). Mine didn't save me any money, but I took great pleasure in knowing I got exactly what I wanted.

And yes, have someone else proof them! I am actually sitting here reprinting reception cards because of an overlooked error!

Good luck!!!

I see you made your decision and I agree with it. You could end up spending more money if you make mistakes, etc. Better off buying them.

I made mine. It took some time but I was really happy with them. I added dried flowers to them and If I would have ordered the kind I wanted it would have cost me like 2K! Yikes. I made them for 400.
