I'm thinking about having BM pick dresses that are either different styles but same color, or same style but different shades of the color (blue) - any thoughts? How does it look when everyone picks their own dress? Thank you, girls! (I should mention I have 4 BM and 1 Jr.BM)

Re: to match or not to match
We are doing varying styles same color... Because that way my BP could pick dresses that fit their budget and ones they were comfortable wearing.

Re: to match or not to match
My girls are wearing different dresses in the same color. Two of them have dresses with sashes in another color. My only requirement was that they chose tea-length dresses. Otherwise they went with what feels good to them and they look amazing together!

I think they should all compliment each other. different styles &/or different shades of color. I love that so much better than the same ol dress on everybody.

Re: to match or not to match
I considered doing different shades of the same dress.... but I found that to make the bridesmaids unique but still uniform it is better to let them pick a style of dress that suits them all in the same color. My one sister wanted a dress with straps and my other sister wanted strapless. So we are going to pick out similar dresses in the same color. But they are going to get to pick from a few dresses. I just want them all to be the same color (tiffany blue), by the same designer so color matches and same length (tea length). But they can pick the style that fits their body shape so they are most comfortable. I think THAT is what is most important and will make them the happiest. :)
Good luck!

Re: to match or not to match
I'm also letting my girls pick whatever style they like in one color that I picked (Navy).
My cousin let us pick whatever style we wanted and gave us THREE choices for color (browns and light browns).

I had them wear all the same dress but it's really up to you, I've seen it done different ways and they all work.

Re: to match or not to match
Im going back and forth.... the specific color I want is actually harder to find in a lot of styles (dark purple) so I might just choose one...... I guess I'll see what we can find...
I like the idea of different styles and same designer/color/fabric but like I said it just might be easier on me to choose one.

Re: to match or not to match
Each girl picked their own style dress - two are in truffle color and two are in latte color i was going for all latte with different styles but david's bridal had a limited dress selection of junior bridesmaids dresses available in that color and she and i fell in love with a dress that came in truffle and the other bridesmaids already ordered their latte dresses so we ordered truffle leaving the moh to pick a latte dress with a truffle sash or all truffle and she tried on both and ended up with the all truffle dress!! yay!

Wow, thanks! I guess I'll just have to take the girls shopping and hopefully I'll be inspired!

Re: to match or not to match
I'm the only one who said 'shades of your color... JMO... I think it looks so modern and fresh.
Not like 'oh, look they are all wearing pink'
For myself, I don't like the idea of bridesmaids, instead opted to have 4 flower girls.
I wish was a better selection of flower girl dresses that weren't white! I would love to do shades. I ended up making them all the same.

Re: to match or not to match
It's a matter of personal preference. I'm not crazy about the idea of 'same color, different dresses' unless you have a bunch of girls and the dresses are sufficiently similar where they go. However, if my girls didn't all like or feel comfortable in the same style dress I would have considered it.
As for different shades, I think it looks better to have the BMs in one color and the MOH in another, unless there are enough different colors to work.
My girls are all wearing the same dress, same color, but only because they all liked the style and there was no similar color. (other designers and styles have many, but there were only a handful of colors in BL tissue taffeta nothing else that looked good with indigo -- pix in my album)
We are having the straps removed from the dresses and made removeable. At least 2 girls won't be wearing the straps at all, but the others might consider it during the reception so maybe they will have different styles after all...

i like the idea of varying styles in the same color. Everyone has different body shapes and this way all the girls can pick a dress that flatters their body the most, and pick something that they are comfortable in

Re: to match or not to match
I think the biggest factor is what body type your girls are. If they are all a similiar body type its much easier to pick one dress.
My girls range greatly in size so I'm thinking of donig the same color but different styles.
