To program or not to program?
Hello ladies,Are you ladies doing wedding programs? I was told by my RH that it's a waste. What has been your experiences? For the married ladies, did you have a lot left over? Not sure if I should print them.

Didn't do them and happy that I didn't waste my time doing it. I got married on a Friday at 3 pm and didn't have a lot of people in the church so it would have been a waste. Most of the older people in my family wouldn't even have read them if I did the programs because they can only understand Italian. So for me, it wasn't worth it. It is something nice to keep though.

Was going to but decided why bother. Just another expense. So we are not doing it.

I'm doing them. I think if it is at a church you should have them, but I don't see the point in having them if your ceremony is at the reception already.. I like having them at the church because if you have a big break in between ive seen the programs have little notes in them that say 'refreshments will be served at the grooms/brides house after the ceremony' and things like that.... Every church wedding I've been to had programs though, and I always see people grab them and read them on their way in because 1. church is boring so it gives people something to read to pass the time LOL and 2. people like to know who the best man/moh and bridesmaids are and the names and stuff like that..

I am doing them, but I can totally understand that they are really pointless. I just like the idea of having them, makes it seem more formal or like a complete thought.

I did them myself but I included personal messages to certain individuals as well as the congregation. They definitely were not run of the mill in terms of content. I had several people say that they don't usually keep the program but they were making an exception in this case.My ceremony was in a church and only about half of those invited to the reception also come to the church. I made one program for each person and came back with half.

I'm not wasting my time or money. I've never been to a wedding with them and even if I did that wouldn't change my mind.

I'm doing them, but I'm getting married at a church. I'm not making one per person though. We're doing about half.

Re: To program or not to program?
I was going to do them but after reading the replies here I think I am going to skip it. It is just another expense and I don't think anyone will miss it. I really like the idea of doing them with a mini bio about each person in the BP but I don't think I have enough time left to do something like that.

I was thinking about it but I'm probably gonna skip it, it is not longer on my priority list. I am getting married on a Friday in a church. The ceremony is at 3pm so I honestly am not expecting too many people to show up besides family and some friends.

Like with most wedding related things, you either want it or you don't.I wanted one and the time I put into it was all worth it. For me it was not work $1+ each. I made them myself for about $10. I also wanted to acknowledge our parents and bridal party.

I had this debate with my MOH this past weekend. We were talking about the weddings we've been to that did vs the ones that didnt and I realized it had absolutely zero effect on the wedding. So i'm thinking i'm not going to bother. Save a few bucks :)

Yes do them! It is a good way to highlight your bridal party members and give thanks to your parents. Plus it gives your guests something to read if they get bored.Welcome New Vendors
