What was the deciding factor for you girlies if you sent out a STD's? Getting married on a Sunday - do you think people need to know that in advance? Looking to cut some corners $ wise and wondering if I should just forgo the STD;s?

we have lots of OOT guests, so def have to send STDs. however, my cousin who lives on LI almost booked a trip to aruba that would have conflicted w/ my wedding date at which point my mom called to nag me about STDs. getting married in the summer when so many people go away is risky without them.

we did STD's but just did them on email. . FH designed one. . did the trick at ZERO dolllars. ... I think people do need them b/c it's amazing how far in advance people plan. . .especially OOT. . and if you have a few relatives who might not be computer savvy you can prob tell them word of mouth. . . or just wait for the invite

I agree that under special circumstances it becomes important but not always! orginally I was getting married on a sunday so that is why i chose to do them. Well after I sent them out I had to change the day and sent out new ones. However I feel if you dont have this circumtances, sundays or OOT guests then you dont have to send them out!

I didn't do them. All of the people who I really wanted to come knew anyway becuase I see them regularly. I just spent the extra money to make my invites a little better.

I did them because we have a lot of out of towners and I wanted to get the hotel info to people sooner rather then later.
I wasn't going to do them because I didn't want to be held to my guest list this far before my wedding.

we have a lot of OOT guests and guests with children. We are getting married on a Friday so I am going to send them out in a couple of months so guests have enough time to make arrangements.

Traditionally you are only supposed to send them out to oot guests, not everyone. I sent them to local guests too, but not all of them. Everyone does not need one. If everyone knows about the date, and don't need to book hotels, arrange flights, etc, I wouldn't worry about it.

I am in the same boat as you. In one way I feel that the wedding invite is already the save the date. Since one sends it so far in advance
I am getting married two weeks before thanksgiving and I highly doubt a lot of guest are going on vacation esp. with kids in school. I have very little(almost none)guest from out of town. Also most of my guest know when I am going to get married.
I also feel that a STD people will look at it once and that is it. If they really are going somewhere depending how close they are to you and your FH they are going regardless.
But then the BRIDEZILLA in me thinks it is so so cute.
But I probably am not going to do it for me its a waste of money, I can understand everyone who does it if they get married in the summer but I see you are in OCT I dont think there is a need

I'm doing one because we have a lot of OOT guests, most of whom are elderly, and also a lot of families with children, so I'm hoping they get a babysitter lined up
