To STD or not to STD

Okay so here is the deal....

FH and I have a huge Italian family and while I love them all and am so happy that that everyone made it to celebrate our engagement....weactually invited 120 ppl to the engagement party and ended up with 137 ppl instead. FH wants to send STD and while I love the idea.....I'm hoping we get declines so that we don't go over 200 (we are inviting about 220) and our guarentee is 175. I'm scared 175 will prevent declines.....I would love to have everyone but financially we can not...then I'm scared this will all backfire and we won't make our guarentee??

What would you do???

I would do them because people will forget as the year goes on when your wedding is and what time your wedding is. People will decline at least 20 percent so I would not worry about the amount of people who are invited. I want less to come to my wedding too and I am only invited 80. I am still sending out STDs.

Hmm well maybe don't send STD's but send your invites like 2 or 3 months before and do A and B lists; so lets say 10 A listers RSVP no, then you know you can send out 10 B listers like a month before (assuming they aren't uber close to the A listers so that they will not be aware they are B listers!) lol I hope this makes sense. We are actually doing this, not b/c we wldnt LOVE for them all to be there, but if NO ONE rsvp's no then we wont be able to invite a bunch of friends w/ guests, and so on. But if they do then we will have that added luxury If you send STD's and it is mostly your italian fam believe me they will be there (I am in the same position lol!!) Just a thought!! HTH
