To take pictures BEFORE ceremony? Or to wait?

To take pictures BEFORE ceremony? Or to wait?

First, I'd like to say that my FI & I are sooo excited that we finally booked our place! We're having our reception at FLOWER FIELDS in August! (Yes, that's this year!) Woohoo...

Now, I originally wanted to get married on the beach (somewhere on the North Shore) but the logistics of that are a little difficult. We could pull it off, but MOG thinks people will complain & won't go onto the beach at 3PM to then go to a formal reception at 5:30PM. I don't think that's such a big deal, but another problem could be horrible heat & humidity OR rain. So, we're considering just having the ceremony at Flower Fields (which is gorgeous!) BUT I still want photos on the beach and FI and I would then HAVE TO see each other BEFORE the ceremony. Has anyone done that? Does it take away from the moment he sees you at the end of the aisle to get married?

We both want to enjoy cocktail hour with our guests, so having the ceremony off site gives us that option, otherwise, we'll have to see each other before the wedding or miss cocktail hour?

i would do the ceremony at flowerfields and miss cocktail our. i wouldnt do the beach ceremony cuz people will be dressed for a formal reception, so youre kinda going from informal to formal, people would need to bring a change of shoes etc i think it may be more of a hassle, plus if you have bad weather than thatll ruin everything.
im also all about fh not seeing you until you walk down the aisle so thats why i would say to take pics at the beach during your CH

I would see each other before and do the pictures at the beach and then do the ceremony at Flowerfield and go to your CH.

Its you and your FH's wedding, you should decide on what you want to do for the day, don't let anyone else make the decisions for you

We did just about all of our pictures before the ceremony and were able to go to the CH, it was sooo much better in my opinion, we didn't want to miss that much of the wedding so we wanted as much pictures done as possible before and it worked out great

I would take pics on the beach first then have the ceremony at flowerfields and attend ch.....you can still capture that surprise look on fh's face when he sees you through photography .....my photographer said its just as captivating as waiting to see each other at the ceremony

dave and i are getting married at bridgeview so we're taking pictures on the beach in long beach beforehand. that way, once the ceremony is over, we can take a few pics at the rh during the 30 min hospitality hour and then be able to go to the whole ch and mingle so we don't have to spend a big part of the reception doing that!

a bunch of the 2009 girls and some 2010 girls saw their fhs before the ceremony and said they were glad they did. i don't think it takes away from you walking down the aisle at all bc there's still that special feeling that you're going down to meet him and marry him! also, your photographer can set up a 'first look' so they can capture your faces when you see each other for the first time before the ceremony.

kris found an article about it 'no seeing each other before the ceremony' thing, and after reading it I had no reservations about seeing dave before the ceremony. i think she posted it on the bhb board the other day bc there was a post like this...

eta: so i would say take pics on the beach and get married at flowerfield. that way, your guests won't have to travel/worry about getting dirty in their nice clothes/have to find something to occupy their time between the ceremony and ch, and you will get the best of both worlds!

here's the article

here is the actual tradtion behind not seeing each other. In the old days, a lot of weddings were arranged. It was tradition for a bride to wear a veil and to not be seen before the wedding in case the groom didn't like what he saw and wanted to run away!!!

Get married at Flowerfield but take pictures on the beach before.

A friend of mine got married at Flowerfield outside and it was GORGEOUS. Let me know if you want to see pictures. You can totally see your FH before the ceremony to take pictures- a reveal on the beach would be beautiful and you'll get some great shots!!!

I was so against seeing eachother beforehand, but I decided it makes perfect sense. Pictures...done. No muss. No fuss. You don't have to miss anything that you've been planning AND you don't have to make your guests wait and travel in between.

Have you seen the pics of the brides who have seen their DH before? They're priceless and they got to share a special moment together without all the pressure of the ceremony and the crowd....

I voted to get married at Flowerfields and miss CH, only because you sound like you hacve your heart set on beach pics, and so if you did have to miss CH you would be fine with it.

I vote do anything not to miss CH..... I personally want to be at as much of the CH as possible because, well I want to enjoy all this that we are paying for and I would like to get the chance to talk to as many guests then instead of when I want to be dancing.

FH and I are seeing each other before the ceremony. I agonized over that decision for months. But, the photographer sets up a 'first look' moment just between you and FH which I think is really nice. It will give us time to do all the pictures beforehand and then just enjoy the day. So, I'd vote for pics before the ceremony.

dh and i made the decission to see each other before our ceremony. we really wanted spend as much time with our guest as possible. oh and to get some bad asss pics. we dont regret this one bit. we also decided that we wanted our bridal party to witness our first look too. seeing his face for the first time was priceless. he was so shocked and happy to see me. oh and so was i. lol

at the ceremony he still got all emotional seeing me walk down the aisle. it was like he was seeing me for the first time.

in the end the decission is yours
good luck

def do that ceremony at flowerfield. I've been to countless affairs there and they're fab. Plus, you do not wanna miss that CH. trust me. lol

You;re close to the water there. Just go before, take pics and then the ceremony etc after at the RH.

I would get married at Flowerfields and then just miss the cocktail hour.

I think it depends what is more important to you and FH. The 'reveal' that your photog could do would still be pretty dramatic and romantic. That way you can get pictures early and get to attend your CH. Is trying the CH food important to you? FH was very adamant he wants to try everything!

I didn't want to see each other before the ceremony and thought we would have soo much time after the ceremony to take photo's and it did not work out like that at all.

We had a BM dress issue and the pastor literally gave a sermon during our ceremony, which made everything fall behind schedule. I would say take photo's before the ceremony, we didn't get a break at all during the cocktail hour and it was very tiring to take all those photos. And we didn't get to take the photo's in our reception room before the dinner started. We missed a lot of photo's because of our time problem.

we saw each other before and it was the best decision we were made...we had so much time st cocktail hour to greet everyone and got to really enjoy our reception

I say take pictures on the beach before the ceremony & have the ceremony at Flowerfield & don't miss CH

FH & I are seeing eachother before the ceremony & I am fine with that. Neither one of us are willing to miss the CH and we will still get that special moment during the 'reveal.' Also, I think it will be more initimate bc it will be either just me & FH or just us & the BP (not sure of logistics yet)....not 200 people staring at us. I've also heard that you are more relaxed during the ceremony because you have already seen eachother & took pics & what not. GL!
