To tan or not to tan?

To tan or not to tan?

Is anyone tanning before the wedding? I want to, but am hoping for some nice weather to tan naturally before I go to a tanning salon. I don't want much, just a little color.

I thought I'd take a poll and see whose tanning and whose not!

Thanks,
Cira

Re: To tan or not to tan?

I'm going to start tanning in June for my August wedding. I'm going to a tanning salon. I've been to one a few times before and love it. Tanning in a salon is so much faster. I love myself with a tan, I think I look so much better. Yeah, I buy the expensive bottle of lotion. But you need to use a lotion, because it helps your tan, and also it's the only lotion you can use in the beds. You can't use Hawaiin Tropic or anything like that. I'm looking forward to it.

What about self-tanner? There are some great ones out there. You can try a few over the next few months until you find one that you like. Tanning beds are so bad for you!!

I agree with JLF41. Tanning bads are VERY VERY bad for you. They say you have 5 times the rate of getting skin cancer then when you tan naturally. Please consider an alternative. I haven't gone in years. I have a few friends who have already developed cancer, and we are only 28. We all did it in HS, it was the thing to have color. You life is more precious! Plus you get more wrinkles when you get older and your skin feels like leather, YUCK!

I dont think that youll develop cancer from a month of tanning, but it is good advise about not abusing a tanning salon..

I'm going!

Yes, it's not healthy to tan, however I'll probably go about 5 times and I think it will be better to tan a couple times than fry once (on my honeymoon). If you are willing to try the sunless tanning lotion, go for it!

Bride02, I love your account name!

UPDATE ON HOLLYWOOD TAN

I just came back from Hollywood tan in Massapequa and they have a special of 125.00 for three months unlimited..thats like getting a month for free!!! also they have a machine called the instatan and thats a machine that sprays self tanner at you for 6 seconds and then you just wait and in 24 hours you have a tan.. not something im willing to try before my wedding, but for some of you who like the self tanning they promise no streaks and a natural looking tan..

Re: denisemang

I am sorry to hear your friends developed cancer at such a young age. My mother died from skin cancer at the age of 53. She was never one to sit in the sun that I knew, however they say the damage is done when we are young. She said she had a bad burn in her late teens.

self tanners

I am going to florida to work on a tan, and will try to hit the beach once a week..

BUT if anyone is interested in a GREAT self-tanner...Neutragena has a great one..it is the one in the yeloow spray bottle...I used the light to medium last summer and no one can tell the difference..
