Re: To the married ladies
I didnt need one because we had a small wedding. nothing went wrong on our day that we knew of so if you need to save money I would skip it and ask a friend to help over see things.

Can you be a little more specific. What tasks did she help you with?

we met with her about a month before the wedding to go over any last minute details - if there is anything i forgot she would tell me!! she took all our information for al lthe vendors - including bridal party contact info and all the info for the DJ and church. she contacted ALL our vendors the week of the wedding to confirm everything. she (or her assistant) came to the rehearsal and helped out there.
the day of she was AMAZING. she made sure everything was running smoothly. she helped me with my corset she made sure we took all the pictures we needed made sure the flowers got to where they needed to go. she made sure we were on time. and the rest of the day, she makes sure EVERYTHING is under control! she made sure we ATE! and she helped with anything and everything!!! my sister also used her - she has a review up her name is 'soinloverwe2'.
the BIGGEST reason i suggest you use a DOC is because you can be the bride and groom and your bridal party can just be the bridal party. you work SO hard to get all the details in order, let someone else worry about them the day of. enjoy the wedding!

Re: To the married ladies
I debated whether to get one but ended up not. I felt very comfortable with my vendors and knew they wouldnt disappoint. However, when the percussionist was not there, my maitre'd was on it and made all the calls necessary and everything worked out. i feel like at that point, you've done everything you could, and so i didn't see the point of paying someone to oversee it on the day. but that's just me. hope that helps!

I wouldn't have spent the money. My hall was amazing with breaking everything down and taking care of all the details. My bridal attendant was FABULOUS and the Maitre d went above and beyond. Everything was taken care of (except me forgetting my flip flops at the hotel, which probably would have happened with or without a DOC )

I thougth about it too, but ended up not getting one, which was a good decision for several reasons. First, I fully trusted my maitre'd and knew that he would take care of any bumps if they happened.
Second, it was so amazing to see everything come together that day/night perfectly and know that I had made that happen and put together my dream wedding without paying someone else to try and do that for me.
For some people, it definitely makes sense, but it wasn't the right thing for me.

Re: To the married ladies
I considered it because mainly i had so many details that needed to be taken care of...luckily I took a gamble on out BM at The Old Field Club who totally came through...he did for me that day what a day of coordinator would have sone...he decorated...he folded..he tweaked..read directions...blood sweat and tears...i lucked out in the end...also my BP was on their A GAME...even the GM's they KNEW how things had to go...and they made sure it happened...

Re: To the married ladies
I personally think it would have been a waste of money. I did everything myself (minimal help from family) and my day went off without a problem.
The only reason I think you need one is if you are having a huge wedding....and I mean huge. Cause I had friends that had 400+ guests and still did it all themselves. Your RH will help to make the day smooth. SAVE THE $$$$$$

I didn't have one, and I wouldn't go back and get one. If you have people to go ahead to do things for you, than you don't need to waste money.
For example, I had my aunt go to the church for me to put the programs where they needed to be, put the wreaths (christmas theme) on the pews, and hand out bubbles after the ceremony.
I can't think of anything that day, other than what I posted above that the DOC would've done to make the day easier. Luckily, my I ran into no problems that day, or maybe I would've felt differently

Re: To the married ladies
I ended up getting one.. I have so many details that I need done ... and honestly, I have been planning this for a year and a half on the day of I just want to sit back and enjoy the day and not worry about anything!!!!!! Things happen and I dont want to deal with any issues that may arise.. our DOC has been great so far.. we met with her twice and had our final meeting with her and she is on top of everything plus she will be calling and confirming with all my vendors and I am giving her a list of my must take photos in case the photog is yesing me to death and doesnt take them! lol I know I will be upset afterwards and I wont notice it the day of, so I think she will be great.
I will let know how it goes!

Re: To the married ladies
I got married last year and I had a DOC. Honestly, it was the best money I spent for the wedding. I went with Katie of Sara Kate Events and she was amazing. I had a few issues on the day of (with my crazy inlaws being upset about their flowers) and she took care of everything! I didn't even know about it until the next day with my sister told me I also had a lot of diy stuff and she set up everything exactly how I wanted it. She met all the vendors when they arrived and dealt with the flowers that were late to arrive (again I didn't know about this until my sister the next day.) Basically, I highly recommend a DOC and Sara Kate Events! Her email is: [email protected] HTH!!

Re: To the married ladies
I was in the same position as you before my wedding. The girls on here made me feel safe not having one, after we talked. I did NOT have one, and things were flawless. As long as you have a close family member or friend, who is not in the wedding party who can handle emergencies & lug stuff around you will be fine. My mom's good friend was in charge of getting the unity candle the church before us, the birdseed to throw, etc... It worked fine. I would say you don't need one. Does your RH have a bridal attendant? Mine did and she was awesome.
Nahhh I didn't need one, everyone close to me was on hand and everything came together. I don't think you need one. JMO

I agree with you. I thought about it because it is a popular idea but I had a small wedding and I loved all my vendors. Everything worked out really well and I didn't feel that I should have had one for amy reason. I think the bottom line is if you can afford it and it won't break the bank, it is a nice luxury to have someone overseeing things the day of and even before, but it isn't an absolute necessity by any means.
