Part of me get icked out when I think about doing that, but I think some guests expect it.....

Re: to toss, or not to toss....
I used to HATE being dragged up to the dance floor to catch the BoK because I was single. Most of my girl friends are either married already, or in committed relationships. While most of FH's friends are single, I think it is better to not do the BoK and garter toss. But that's just me.

Re: to toss, or not to toss....
Think it depends on if you have single friends there or not. I have been to weddings where 3 people have gone up and it's kinda boring We have a mixed crowd of single and married friends so I think we might do it.

Re: to toss, or not to toss....
I kept going to weddings were they tossed it, finally when I wanted it tossed everyone stopped. I say stick with the age old tradition. Its fun, its cute and it makes great photo/video moments.

I am doing it and I want all the women to get up because if you are single and catch it then you get married but if you are married and catch it you will have a lifetime of love in your marriage. Thats what I will have the dj say.
Such a cute a$$ idea just cindy! i love it!

no way for mee..
I have never personally liked any of that, the bok or garter. We are instead doing an anniversary dance and handing over a bok to longest married couple :)

Re: to toss, or not to toss....
oh i always wanted to add.. that IF i was going to toss a bok, I saw soemwhere about holding a small cluster of tiny boks. When you toss it they break apart and a few people can catch. You would attach little charms or cards to each one with a good fortune like happiness, wealth, love, etc

No Bo-K toss for us..........there will only be a few single girls at our wedding and they definitely won't want to be singled out..

I think it depends on your crowd. If I were older and most of my friends were married then I wouldn't do it because it wouldn't be as much fun for the whole crowd. But since my ENTIRE BP is single.. and most of the guests are single... I'm going to do it. Of course with a toss BoK.
Kerri!!!!! I totally agree....I was not going to do it but SOOO many of my friends were single and two og my BM's actually asked me to...so I did...I think it totally depends on the crowd

Crashing -
Question: doesn't it take up about 20 minutes to do the BK and Garter Toss??? That is a lot of time taken away from dancing? I want to do it for the pictures and tradition but dont want to waist the time. With a 4 hour reception (not including CH) - by the time food, cake cutting, dances is done, it maybe time to leave?

Re: to toss, or not to toss....
Hope I don't hurt anyones feelings on this one but I don't care for this at all and never have. The whole single girl hoping to be the next one thing bothers me. Yet I know some brides who LOVE doing it and the girls don't mind. Totally a personal preference and I think the type of group you have at your wedding matters too. If it's super young crowd and it's all in fun, why not. If it's mostly married people and a few unwed women, it is torture.

Re: to toss, or not to toss....
Im with Gina-- I may do a bo-k toss but no garter... not into that personally.
I like the idea of tossing the bo-k however, most of our friends are married and the single ones.. well again most are in their 30's and probably wouldnt appreciate being reminded that they are single .. I never got up when i was single or engaged (previously).
I think it depends on how your friends are.. some people love that stuff and shove eachother out of the way to get the bo-k Mine would likely hide in a corner when the bo-k is announced.. so i wont torture them
