to TTC or not to TTC- this is my delema! PLEASE HELP! (repost from TTC)
Ok- I and DH are so ready to TTC this/next month but now I don't know what to do.
My MIL/FIL are paying and have bboked a cruise to alaska in July for us and are VERY excited to be going on a family vacation with us. My MIL brought it up last night at dinner about how excited she is and that this is making her year!
DH and I wanted to start TTC this month but I am worried how I might feel if I am preggo on the trip and so far away from home. I don't want to tell anyone- except you ladies that we are ready to TTC. I know my mom would be watching EVERYTHING I do and be up my arse and a pain in the arse that TTC would be very stressful fo rme and DH. If I tell my MIL and my mom finds out that she knew we were TTC before she does she will be so unhappy.
I know we may not get preggo right away and this is why I want to TTC now- I am going to be 32 this year and don't want to wait anylonger. We already postponed TTC because of my job/finances and now are in a good spot to. I am also scared that it may take us a long time to concieve that I don't want to wait.
What would you do? Any advice on traveling while preggo?
TIA for any help!
Lora

That's a tough one. Personally I would not have been comfortable traveling while I was pregnant. I was concerned about something happening. I also just don't know how much fun you would have on a cruise like that if you're pregnant.
That being said being around 5-6 months pregnant is probably one of the best times to travel during your pregnancy. You'll be feeling your best at that point, morning sickness will be gone and you wont be too huge that you'll be uncomfortable.
Personally I would hold off on TTC. You should enjoy your trip because it may be one of the last trips that you and DH can take and totally relax in a very long time. Maybe you can TTC on the cruise?

I've never been pregnant, so I can't answer about being comfortable or uncomfortable part. If it was me, I woudn't wait to try. Hopefully you will get pregant the first try, but you never know. Good luck whatever you decide.

I went on a cruise to Bermuda when I was 7 months preggo. I had a great time. I couldn't drink but we still had so much fun. Plus think of all the food for your cravings I wouldn't put TTC on hold, go for it!!!

I wouldn't put it on hold. Go for it!! I went to the Bahamas for some R&R when I was almost 7 months along and it was one of the best vacations I've had!

Can you ask your MIL to get trip insurance? That way you can TTC and if you do get pregnant and don't feel up to traveling, you can back out without wasting all the money. And if you are preggo but feel good then you can go on the trip. I wouldn't put off TTC at this point - it could take a long time to get preggo so if you're ready, you should start.

I wouldn't wait either. I would go for it. There is no guarantee about getting pregnant the first try, and even if you did, you would only be 6-7 months at the time of the cruise.
Also, if you wait for the trip, after the trip, something else might come up. I don't think there is ever a perfect time TTC.

I'm currently 30 weeks pregnant.
Two summers ago I went on a cruise to Alaska.
I think that you could be very comfortable on that trip even if you were six months pregnant. The flight across the country would be the hardest part. There is no reason to think that you need to be close to home in July if you conceived this month. (Plus, its even more likely to take you a few tries, in which case there is even less of reason to be concerned about being pregnant on the trip.)
If you were pregnant, you'd need to sit out on the helicopter rides, dog sleds and glacier hiking... but there are plenty of other activities you will be able to do and have a fabulous time. Alaskan cruises are really relaxing -- most of the time is spent sitting and looking at amazing scenary.
So, I think you should start TTC right away -- sounds to me like that is a much higher priority in your life than some possible discomfort on your trip!

Personally I do not believe in holding off TTC because of outside things such as a trip or wedding (except your own etc..I think that IF you get pregnant then you will deal with it at the time. You may or may not be able to travel. Every pregnancy is different so there is no crystal ball about how you feel or what will be going on medically. Also, you could get pregnant in the first month. You may not. No one can tell you so if you and your DH are ready, then enjoy the TTC and you can make a trip decision if you have to.

I agree completely... it would be in july so if it happened right away it would be perfect timing... after first rimester nausea, and before third trimester swelling, and/or nausea... GOOD LUCK
