to use or not to use- that is the question?

my lenox wedding promises cake topper and lenox server set.

These are very expensive items bought for me by by bridal party, how safe is it to give to the hall, to put on my cake and how can i be reassured these items will not end up lost/ damaged-

should i opt for a cheaper version or stick w/ the expensive ones and hope for the best- what do you guys think?

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I got the same stuff - I plan on using them, after all, that is what they are for. I think that if you don't use them, they won't have the same special meaning to you, and your bridal party might be disappointed if you don't use them.

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

The halls deal with those things all the time. Just make sure you label them carefully and HAND them to your event manager, not just someone working there. Also, make a list of everything you have at the hall and make sure you get what you want back and check it off your list.

I agree, they might have their feelings hurt if you don't use them, go for it!!! I'm sure your hall will be careful with them, I agree though, make sure you label everything!

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I used my Lenox flutes/cake server, etc. and got them back just fine. At my hall, I had to bring in everything I wanted to use a couple of days before the wedding in a box labeled with my name, etc. and I got them back the same way. Just ask your hall how they handle it

What would you use it for if you don't use it for these things?

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

They gave it to you to use. Use it. All the catering halls have experience with cake toppers. Regardless of the value. It will have more meaning to you if you use it and see it in your pictures.

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I'm bringing my Lenox topper and server as well as my Waterford toasting glasses.

You will more than likely only use these items once...might as well use them on your special day.

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I didn't have a cake topper but I did have a nice cake server and waterford glasses. CB put everything out nicely and it was given back without any problems. Caterting halls handle these kinds of things all the time...it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I can't think of hall that would jeopardize their reputation over a topper and serving set. Use your things, and you can rest assure that it will be returned to you.

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

Dont worry about it Watermill is wonderful. We used our Waterford Toasting Flutes, Lenox cake topper and serving set and other items for our wedding at Watermill. They handled everything with care and returned everything washed and packed in the boxes we provided.

One tip mark your names, wedding date, time and room on all the packaging hand them all to your BM with a list of the items and their placement. Keep a copy of the list for yourself.
Enjoy your day

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I used my Lenox Promises Cake server. The place where we got married, you had to sign everything you broight in/out of the hall, so I was not worried about losing anything.

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

my friends hall (Grand Prospect Hall) broke her cake topper.
She had the Fortunoff one and they broke the brides arm off.

They still didn't replace it, and this was in May!

Re: to use or not to use- that is the question?

I would go ahead and use them. It will mean so much more to you after the wedding! My grandmother has told me that she is getting the cake topper and serving set for us and I plan to use them as well.
