To wax or not to wax ...that is the question!

Well, I have never had anything waxed beside my eyebrows and I am now contemplating whether I should get a bikini wax! Honestly girls, how bad does it really hurt and how long before the wedding day should I have it done if I do decide? Anyone know of a good place to go? Thanks

I would recommend it. I would definitely go at least two days before the wedding because if you are fair skinned you will be red. It hurts. But it really looks great and well worth it!! I go to a place in the City. Good luck. It usually cost around $20.00.

I have been getting my eyebrows and lip waxed since I was sixteen and I am turning 25 next month. I think a bikini wax would be fine if you go a couple of days before. A Brazilian wax is something to definitely watch out for, they can really hurt, but I hear its usually worth it.

I used to wax my bikini line but i've lately had to stop beause the only good place i've found costs $40 plus tip. I just can't do it right now. Yes, it hurts and stuff, but its over before you know it and it usually lasts for a while. I had the problem with redness and ingrown hairs, but I've found that rubbing alcohol usually helps. Good luck!!

i also had redness and ingrowns.. but its so nice and smooth and not too bad at all. the wax warms your skin and once they do it, she might have to go back in with a tweezer... not trying to scare you, just the reality! but your skin is numbed a lil already so the tweezer wont hurt. Just do it- FH will love it!!

I had my legs waxed(only the lower part) and it was the most painful experience of my life. Not only that, the hair grew back all uneven and my legs were covered in red bumps for days.

I will never do it again. Sorry!

I have never waxed my bikini line, just shaved. I do get my eyebrows waxed though. If anyone can recommend a good, CARING place in NYC or LI where a newbie can go to and they won't think I'm a baby for crying when they do it, I'd be very thankful.

Wax. I think tweezing my brows hurts more than my brazilian. And waxing my legs definitely hurts more.

It's not that bad, and it's worth it. You don't want to have to worry about shaving your legs every day on your honeymoon...

If you are in the Hicksville area...you should go to my DH's aunt...she works in a salon in Syosset...but also out of her home...

she uses only the best wax and is very talented in knowing which direction the hair should be pulled and the type of wax for the thickness of the hair...to make it less painful...

a few girls from here have gone to her and raved (I have never done a bikini wax, b/c she is my aunt...you know) but she is always good to me when I do my eyebrows and underarms...

FM me if you want her info

I have used Ericka's Aunt on three occasions. I have gotten the brazilian wax everytime and it is soooo much less pain than doing my eyebrows and lip. The reason is b/c the woman uses much better wax called lavender wax. The stuff that is used for eyebrow and lip is really cheap wax. I haven't gone to Yabbobay's Aunt for this yet. The week of my e-party I was in pain for 10 minutes when I got my eyebrows done! On top of the fact that she burned me! I wanted to strangle the woman at the nail salon!
Yabbo's aunt is really nice. She is amazing. And the pain literally only lasts for 5 seconds and that is it! No more pain.

A few years ago I had gotten electrolysis. That was when I had $ for fun and no wedding/house savings (far away memory...).
Anyway, it is a little pricey and time consuming, but I went to a place in the city called Lucy Peters. All they do is electrolysis and it's the least painful salon that i had gotten it done at.

I had my 'happy trail' done, as well as some random hairs on my neck and chin (so gross, I know) and they have never come back!!
It's jsut another option. They can do eyebrows, bikini, armpits, even men went there for hands, back...

I was my arms, pits (lol), eyebrows, and brazilian. It is worth all the pain in the world. You don't understand how the hair grows back. not itchy and so much softer. It also doesn't grow back for awhile! My suggestion if wax a couple of days before, 2 should be good. It hurts, I won't lie, but pop 2 advil and deal with it..lol The pain lasts a second just as she pulls the strip, then you are good to go....

OK girls, here's a question. I've never had a bikini wax and definitely want to do it for the honeymoon. So, do you wear your bikini bottom, undies or, um, nothing???

Before I started getting brazilians (no underware at all) I used to wear a paper thong for a bikini wax.
