Maybe you can find a similar set off of etsy or ebay. I kinda think it is a waste of money too.

Re: Toasting Flutes
My MOH was begging to get me these... I was like WAY TO MUCH MONEY (personal opinion of course). If you like the stems with stones in them check our pearl jubilee by Lenox - $39.99/pair. I just placed those on our registry. Same style, by with pearls instead of crystals. They also have match cake cutting set, ring holder, little box thing, and frames (I really like the double 5x7 to put a wedding photo in and then invitation.
i think its a little more than i would spend but if you love them and can afford it then go for it!
p.s....we got the lenox jubilee toasting flutes posted above and they are beautiful!!

i think its too much, but thats just my opinion
i like joanna's idea, put it on your registry, and worse case someone doesn't get them, at least they let you buy whatever is left at a discount.

Re: Toasting Flutes
It depends on whether you have the extra $$ to shell out. Also, what do you plan on doing w/ them after the wedding? If you think you'll keep them on display it might be worth the money for you. They are really pretty!
