To look for dresses for the FIRST TIME EVER!!!!!!!!!

So we went to David's Bridal on Northern Blvd. At first, the lady told me I couldn't look at dresses until I filled out some form. So I did, and then she was like okay, look though the book and tell me waht you like. So i was like..hmm....can't i just go around and look? atleast i know waht they look like upclose. She got a lil pissy and said okay, waht size are u? so i told her usually a 2/4/6, depends...and she was like NO U LOOK LIKE A 10!
i got so pisssed, lol. So i was like okay.....
So I went around looking and wound up by the size 8 section and she was like THIS IS NOT UR SIZE. I was like, okay, calm down....So i ended up tryin on 4 dresses. 3 were strapless, 1 was halter. I have pics, I'll post them later...I dunno, the selection in there was not big at all. My mom and her friend loved the halter one, but I hated it-it had pearls on it and i hateee pearls!! plus it was huge, so maybe tahts why i also didn't like it....

I would have been damn mad if someone told me I was a size that I wasn't. The reality is that yes, bridal dresses usually run small. I wear a regular size 10 comfortably and I am 145 pounds at 5 ft 8. I tried on a sample size of my dress in a 10 and it fit like a size six so I had to order a 14 - no biggie. But honestly, there is no mistaking a 2, 4 OR a 6 for a 10. I am sure of it. I grew up in retail and had someone ever spoken to a customer like that, the manager/boss would have been contacted and the employee reprimanded. You dont need that type of aggravation.

Jeanine, all those dresses are beautiful!! What a hard decision to make!! I really like the halter, but if you don't like it then it's out.

I can't decide between the strapless. I think I like the first one the best, but they're all so nice!!!

And don't worry about the size thing, I'm usually a 2/4 and I ordered an 8. But I would've walked right out of that store had any sales woman given me that kind of attitude. I give you credit for just brushing her off!!

J...I dont know what size you normally take but Im a 6 or 8 and ordered my dress in a 10. It still has to get taken in and have some things altered.
Dresses tend to run smaller than what size states so dont take offense to it.
Its just the way they are.
As for dresses, they all seemed nice but from what you posted, nothing came out at you.....so,
Moving on to the next place!

grr...ok well, maybe she was having a bad day. they say that wedding dresses are cut small, but I am sure she could have mentioned THAT to you as an explanation! don't be discouraged. check out more places. try RK Bridal. they let you roam the store and pick whatever you want (though I'd try to go during the week if I were you!!)

Hey girls
I'm usually a size 2-4-6, it really depends. I was hoping for a 6, bc i know wedding dresses run small....but when she brought out a 10, it hung on me. And there was no size 6 in any of the dresses i liked...but she was persistent about the 10, and then whn she saw it on me she was like ohhhhh...LOL

Debbie, you are correct, none of the dresses really hit me!!
I will post later of me in them..my mmoms friends daughter took 2 of me.

I think I will go to the macys in manhasset...!

You want to hear something funny? When I was in highschool, I would look through David's Bridal online, and the dress your mom loved was my dream dress!! So pretty! But it turns out that halter tops aren't flattering on me. I love the third dress that you posted, with the lace bodice. My top is similar to that, where the top is scalloped instead of being straight across. That's my favorite part of my dress! So I'm biased, but the 3rd one that you like is my favorite of the 3. Congrats!!

That's hysterical b/c when I showed my MOH the dress tonight shes like omg i printed out that dress a few months ago-bc I love it!! LOL
It looks good on the website, but when I tried it on, I hated it....

When I was there, I had a good experience. I think Laura helped me out. She is the manager and was soooo nice. I was about to leave when by God's grace my dress was hanging by the Oleg Cassani rack, by accident. I had already tried on four dresses and another lady (I forgot her name) told me that I couldn't try anymore. I was shocked cause it wasn't like there were a lot of people in the store. It was a Tuesday and I took a day off from work to be there. Anyways, she let me try it on and it was the one! I would have left and never found my dress. If you go back maybe you should try and talk to Laura. Good Luck.
