today is my 35th birthday

and i have to go to a baby shower WITH my mother who is grandchild-less . . . depressing. not to mention for some reason i am always sad on my birthday and DH is working and we don't have anything planned. i know i sound like a baby but is it so wrong to want/expect some special attention on my bday. I always thought i would be a mom by the time i'm 35 and instead i'm a tired, overworked, unappreciated newlywed who has not even honeymooned yet after pulling together a great wedding in 5 months

I can relate....I'm in the same age bracket and bdays I expect to be spoiled & made a fuss over--yet DH's family is the opposite.

Im so sorry that you feel the way that you do, but remember....... ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY....spend today relaxing, dont stress about your mother and just try to have the best bday, possible.

I'm sorry you are so down..but honestly you have to try and look at it this way. You not having a child now is not something to be depressed about. It will happen!! I'm not knocking anyone who had children at a younger age because I myself did..but honestly if I could have waited I would have. I love my son to death..but I know the next time around is going to be alot different, because I am much older, and more mature. I'm going to be 35 12 days after I get married..and I want to have another myself. I think there is nothing wrong w/you being childless at this age, if anything I feel your 20's are a time for you to be selfish and enjoy your time and your accomplishments amongst friends & family whether it be traveling or whatever. You are married and will have a family. Don't be so hard on yourself. Try to enjoy your birthday ....

Hope you have a great birthday anyway, I just celebrated my 36th, my last birthday as a single girl with no kids. Next year I will be married and have a child, dont worry, enjoy and have a great birthday
