I just went to that site but its dated Jan. 19th....is this a curent rate or no?

For the rates on any given day (as well as all kinds of valuable information), always check out Bankrate . You can head into their mortgage area for lots of info including the average rates and points in the top 10 markets (only surveys certain conforming loan types though), and the local search , where you can enter your location, desired loan type, and points, and see what local lenders have reported they are offering within those parameters. These local rates sometimes have unbelievably low numbers...call them to verify their rates, fees, and policies - we found some to be perfectly on the level, and others to be a little on the shady side.
