You would be surprised at what is done at the pageant circuit, especially in the South. By the time I got out I was used to everyone having fake tans, bleached teeth, false eyelashes on 2 year olds, and falsies on 12 year olds to impress the judges. Not to mention the 5 inch heels starting at 11

omg, i couldn't even imagine doing that to my kid much less having to do it at such a young age..I mean I know that a lot of the children enjoy it, but maybe thats cause its all they know.. O well to each his own

They look like sexified 5 year olds. Not healthy or normal for children that age imo. Most of the mothers are trying to live through their children.

I get a little freaked when they put the flipper in and they have like creepy looking teeth because they cant show their missing teeth for the pageant.

EXACTLY!!!!! The mothers usually seem unhappy with themselves and trying to experience their dreams through their daughters...

Re: Toddler & Tiaras
they need to make a show on Irish Dancers (Hi, I'm an Irish Dance teacher) We blow the pageant people away!
spray tan, double wigs (with SOCKS)- ok lets explain this.. TWO curly wigs with a rolled up sock to give MORE height, fake eye lashes, HUGE AMOUNT of STAGE makeup, SOCK GLUE (yes, we glue our socks to our legs), dresses that cost over $2,400 that we wear 3 times. we travel across the county (hell we travel to OTHER countries) for a competition.
and there are no cash prices (rarely there are scholarships) so.. you're basically pouring THOUSANDS of dollars into a dance form that you will do from age 3-21... there is no real future after that, unless you become a teacher or make it to a show.

I was a pageant kid for a brief run of about two years! I quit right before my 10th birthday.
