Tom Cruise was moved by the birth of his daughter, Suri – all the way to the 20/20 studio just days later where he told Deborah Roberts, “It was everything that we wanted it to be…It was spiritual. It was powerful.” It was great publicity for M:I3!
But if only he’d spent a few more days researching baby names, he wouldn’t be confusing our Israeli brethren across the globe. While Cruise’s spokesbot released a statement saying that the name had its origins in Hebrew meaning “princess, ” it turns out her name basically means “Talk to the hand, ’cause the face ain’t listening” in Hebrew. Reuters reports:
“I really don’t know what they were thinking when they chose this name. It’s a term that denotes expulsion, like ‘Get out of here’,” said Gideon Goldenberg, a linguistics professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. “It’s pretty blunt.”
So essentially Tom was projecting the feelings that the greater public now has for him onto his baby. The first day of kindergarten is going to be faaaaannntastic.
