Tomorrow is YOUR year ladies

Tomorrow is YOUR year ladies

I just wanted to wish you all the best year. I remember on New Years I was able to say 'im getting mrried this year' as opposed to 'Next Year'.

Its a magical time and will be amazing. I want to offer some quick advice I hope will help all of you.

1. Forget the Drama- If anyone starts it, end it. Dont give them the power to do so. If a BM is giving you troubble, drop her. DONT put up with drama.

2. Dont let your family and friends emotionally blackmail you. My mom wanted sweetbreads at the wedding (IWW!!) I said to her 'Its a great idea mom, and I'm really glad you suggested it, but I just dont know if its something that will be good. Let me think about it'. Then she went on and on and tried to emotianally blackmail me. I finally said no. but I compramised and had the chef make up 2 portions just for her.

3.If you HAVE to, learn to compramise to make all happy (see #3).

4. Make a decision and move on. If you take one peice of advice, do this. I found my dress and never looked at dresses again. I found my veail and loved it. I loved my cake......I didnt second guess myslef. I found it hard enough to make the originial decision and didnt want to torture myslef with going back, and back and back.

5. Extras- Do what you want, but dont break the bank. I didnt have things like an aisle runner, programs, Channa Plaque and custom napkins. Thats becuae I didnt want them. Some people were like 'What?? No Aisle runner??' I said 'nope'. I was happy with what *I* wanted and not what *others* thought I should I have. You do what you want and F everyone else. Just dont go into debt for it.

6. Try not to go into deep debt for the wedding. Its hard enough starting off a new life together with your DH.

7. Things will go wrong on your day, just dont sweat it. I had some small things happen and could not care less. I knew that if my cake fell over, or if my flower girl screamed and ran away when it was time I WOULD laugh. Nothing could take me away from what I had wanted all my life. ALL I wanted was to be married.

8. DO trust your insticts if you think something is 'off'. aka Flowers by Gina. If you think a vendor is blowing you off, not tslking to you, not doing what you want...trust your instincts.

9. This is the other peice of advise I lived by on my day. Enjoy. I had my wedding at night so I had tme to wake up. Have breakfast. Read my book. I was not rushed at ALL and it helped me to remember the day, ALL day. I just made SURE to take it in. I am MOH for my girlfriend and I'm going to KEEP reminder her all day to enjoy and take it in. We took pix before CH so we could enjoy CH. Just make sure to enjoy the day you have been waiting for.

10. Congrats to you all!!!!

The other thing that kept me sane for the last 6 months:

11. Keep a small notebook with you.

~ As I was walking to work, or out with girlfriends (randomly) I would think 'OH, I want to do THIS for the wedding'. I would write it down. Even if it was 'I want to look at the flowers and askj about pink instead of blue'.

This way I NEVER forgot anything. I didnt foget one thing I wanted/needed to do for the wedding. And for me, what gives me anxiety is KNOWING there was somethign I needed to do,and not remember.

12. Last thing. Make a list. Hotel/night before and Day of and drop off at RH

As I bought things I put it on the hotel list and Day of. So my Day of shoewere on the list for the hotel, AND for Day of.

I bought a 'bride' thong and didnt want to forget it. Earrings for rehearsal dinner.....ANYTHING I thought I was going to bring.

When we dropped stuff off at the RH I knew I had everything. As I packed for the hotel I KNEW I had EVERYTHING down to the cryslas for my hair and fake eyelashes.

I left nothing off the list. It was a godsend. I never stressed because I did not forget ONE thing.
