Re: Tonight we try Rice Cereal
The dr gave us the Okay to try cereal too!! but he said it was optional, only if wanted. He said we could wait until 6 months if we wanted since he is EBF. My son has been staring at us while we eat so we are going to slowly start him out. did your dr only say cereal? my dr said we can give him ANY solid food we want...I found that odd being that most people start with cereal
How is he feeling after his shots? My little guy has been sleeping all day!

Sleeping all day? You are lucky. Jake cried for about 3 minutes and then was back to his normal self, and I even gave him tylenol. My doctor said we can try the rice cereal, oatmeal and barley first, 2 times a day. then in a week or 2 give him applesauce and fruits and veggies. We decided to hold off on starting the cereal tonight, my husband got parinoid that if he had a reaction and was sleeping we wouldn't know it, so we will start it tomorrow. Are you going to start the cereal too?

Re: Tonight we try Rice Cereal
this sleeping all day thing is not necessarily good -- hopefully it wont mess with his nite time sleep tonight :)
As for the cereal, yes my DH wants to start him tomorrow - in a way I dont want to - hes getting too big too fast but like i mentioned earlier he has been intrigued watching us eat and the dr said thats usually what they do when they are ready. And he is a BIG boy...hes just over 20 lbs at 4 months-2 wks old!

Your little guy is soo cute. I love the avitar picture. Where did you get it done? How well does your son sleep at night? Jake will be 4 months old on Tuesday and weighs 14 pounds 8 ounces. He still wakes up once in the middle of the night for a feeding. I cannot wait to have 1 full nights sleep. I hope it comes soon.

Re: Tonight we try Rice Cereal
THANK YOU - I got the pic done at Kiddie Kandids in BRU...so far the BEST place Ive had pictures done.
He has some good nights and some rough nights. Ive been home for almost 4 wks due to surgery so our schedule is all messed up. Im hoping it will readjust once I get back to work. He almost always has a good 6 hour stretch, usually from about 9-10pm to 3-4am then wakes up for a snack and goes right back to sleep but like clockwork he is ALWAYS up at 730 AM no matter time that 'snack' was!! When I was working before my surgery we did have a few nights where he slept the whole night. The only that stunk about those nights were that I was still up because I am nursing and had to pump. I agree about the good nights sleep! I have yet to get an 8 hour stretch since he was born. The most Ive gotten is 6! It will be here soon

Good Luck on the cereal! When Andrew first started, he was 4 months old too. It took him a few days to get the hang of it, and once we started added fruits to it, he loved it and we've never looked back!

Good luck on the rice! The only thing was it made my dd very gassy and constipated so we've been sticking with oatmeal or barley and she is so much better with it.

in the beginning they eat very little, Id be lucky to get her to eat 3 or 4 gerber spoons, NOW, OMG, we are up to 3.5 tablespoons and she eats it all, as the days go on he will eat more and more but dont expect a lot in the beginning

Re: Tonight we try Rice Cereal
Hi - we started the rice cereal yesterday and he creid and spit it out. So I put some in his bottle to see if he would get used to it. Well this morning we tried again and he loved it. Kept opening his mouth for more. He finished a tablespoon of it after drinking a 5oz bottle. I am so proud of my little man. In a day or too we will try the oatmeal and then the barley.
