Tons of Invitation Questions

Tons of Invitation Questions

Hey ladies, I was thinking I don't really need to start thinking about invites until March, but now I'm wondering if I need to get on it now.

I'm not sure about timeline for ordering, and how long proofs take to be finalized, etc?

I'm getting married Sept 14. I wanted to send out invites early July with an RSVP of August 14. Is one month before wedding a good RSVP time?

I am going to get caligraphy done on the envelopes. I am probably having about 70 invites, so is 2 weeks enough time?

I'm thinking I want them in my house early June then.

How long does it take once they are ordered to come in. I know it varies based on who I use (which I haven't even figured out yet).

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I was going to give myself like 2 more months before I started focusing on this, but now I'm worried I might need to bump this up on my list of things to do.

I'm making mine myself so I can't help you with the timeline for proofs etc.

But I am making my RSVP date 1 month prior to the wedding, and sending out the invitations somewhere around 11 weeks before the wedding (so like 7 weeks before RSVP). I originally wanted to send my invitations out earlier than that but my DOC advised me that people will forget (to send the responses, etc) if they're too early.

Although I can't comment on how long the proofs and ordering take - I DIY'd my invitations, my feeling was that all of the big things had been planned, there was no chance of anything changing, why not get them done....it also helped with the budget.

I used a wonderful company for digital calligraphy called Wedding Ink, she was amazing, they came out amazing and her professionalism and turn around time were great. If you go this route, FM me and I will give you all of her information.

I also had a one month RSVP date, to coincide with the cutoff for our hotel block. But if I feel that people aren't making the hotel reservations, then I'll make a few in my name to hold them.

it really does depend on who you work with. I did mine through wedding Paper diva's. I had two proofs (everything was done on line- i had ordered a sample of the one i wanted) and with that plus delivery, it all took 10 days. I just finished stuffing them and I am mailing them out jan 3, which is a little less then 3 mtns in advance. my response is due Feb 15th that is 6 wks from my wedding. I wanted to give myself enough time to call people if i don't get a response and also to do my tables, name cards, favors and all that stuff.

My wedding is August 11th and I actually just started the process. My proofs will be in Monday.

I would say you have about two more months to order to choose but the sooner the better.

I don't know what to tell you about when to order, but you can start looking now! There's so many invitations out there and the books are huge. We even narrowed down to what we want, but the books are still huge and take a long time to go through if you're picky!

Re: Tons of Invitation Questions

We are doing one month before our wedding date as RSVP

We ordered our invites, and they took about a week and a half

We wanted to send our invites out by Januray 1, and we started working on them the week after Thanksgiving, they were final ready to be printed a week before Christmas

I did an RSVP date one month prior to my wedding. I started looking for invites around March/April. I sent my invites out at the TWO month mark(June).

Proofs took about two weeks. Then another two weeks for processing.
