Tons to worry about with the wedding, but the one thing making me panic the most is...

My First dance with my new husband. You see, we are both s u c k y dancers. At our e-party, we basically looked like a s s e s. We were sort of just standing on the dance floor in front of everyone, in each others arms, and just swaying to the music. I want to take some lessons before we get married. I think I could probably, with a little bribery, get FH to go. However, it can not be anywhere near where we live. He will not go for that. So with that said, we live in Merrick, can anyone reccomend dance places anywhere but merrick, that are not too expensive? We are on a really tight budget these days with the wedding only five months away. Thank you girls!!

Boop DARLING!!!
hehe
I am with you 100%

My FH have never slow danced together.
hehe He can really cut rug with the music is hopping ... me.. I just look like a fool.

We plan on starting our dance... but having the MOH, Best Man and other important couples.. mom & dad.. so forth join us.

Thank GOD for my DJ - Music by Michael - he specifically asked about 'spotlight' dance. I nearly sunk into the couch.. 'GOD NO!'

Hugs.. I could always come to your wedding and look really stupid as I step on my FH's shoes and am always trying to lead, if it makes you feel better. We figured that since my dress is long enough as long as we sway and move generally in a circle no one will notice!!!

Arthur Murray gives a FREE dance lesson - it's an hour lesson and they show you a few different dances. I know there's one in Huntington and there's another in Bay Shore (I believe).

But like Wacky said - don't sweat it...it will be a beautiful moment, no matter what!

my FH and i have been talking about lessons for a while but we're also on a budget. i just got the booklet for my districts adult enrichment classes and they have an eight session dance lessons class for something like $25. i'm in suffolk so your FH would be comfortable with the anonimity thing. FM me if you want info.

This is funny...I just got my FI 4 1/2 hours private lessons for his birthday. Arthur Murray charged me 150. It would have been enough for our first dance. They even coreograph the first dance if you are really unsure.

But we just want to be able to dance together for any dance so this is just the beginning! It's a little pricey but I know they are good so it's worth it!

I hope this helps!

We went to Arthur Murray in Bayside - it was around $650 for 14 lessons - a combination of private & group lessons.

There are probably home kits or videos you could check out that would at least let you feel more comfortable.

Even with the lessons we didn't really cut a rug during our first dance but at least we had danced together which we didnt do before the lessons. It was just fine!
