I feel like FH keeps shooting down my ideas. He says it seems too cheesy and self-serving..I'm like 'It's a wedding, it's supposed to be self-serving and cheesy'
One idea I had was to have the BP come out (at the reception) to 'Final Countdown' and have one or more of the GM do an 'illusion', like pulling out scarves or cards, or a putting a knife in his mouth.
FH says the people who don't get it will think we just hired really bad magicians and it will set a negative tone for the whole wedding. I said that the people who DO get it will die laughing, so it's worth it.
Also, I wanted to dance our last dance to a Disney song (that happens to have an intro that has Jiminy Cricket saying 'thanks for coming and sharing our special day, etc etc:), and FH also thinks that's too cheesy.
He's also not keen on the Cinderella carriage and photobooth I am dying to have.
Am i just too much for a cheesball, or is FH being uptight?

My FH and I are considering using 'Final Countdown' as our BP entrance, we are huuuuuuuuuuuuge Arrested Development fans, so I don't think its cheesy at all!
I also think that you can never please everyone, so why try! Please yourselves first - its your wedding, and everyone there wants to see you two happy, so do what makes you happy!

I don't have any clue what the magician reference is to, but I've seen some strange things at parties for friends in the past and always had no idea what the heck was going on but it didn't really bother me. It's not my party, so they can do whatever they want...
That being said, this is both of your wedding, so I definitely suggest compromising when it comes to unique touches that might put the affair over the 'weirdness' edge.
You've got plenty of time to work out a lot of those details, so see what he comes up with over the next year and see where you both can be comfortable in your creativity when it comes to unique wedding touches.

We toyed with using it as well for the exact same reason.
I say yes to the song and maybe to the 'illusions' - but at the end of the day, if it makes you happy, then why not? No one will mistake your BP for random rented magicians - they will have just seen them at the ceremony.

I think FH is sort of overreacting! But I could also be way off. I like to do funny things just for the hell of it, FH is much more reserved.

Hahaha! I was considering 'Final Countdown' too!! Love Arrested Development... but FH is not quite as excited about it. I also threw out The Darkness 'I Believe In a Thing Called Love' for our entrance LOL. I was half joking but that got shot down by FH too... Yet he wants to walk in to a theme song like Star Wars or Indiana Jones - just as cheesy or even worse!!!
