So I have a friend at work who is getting married a year before me, so Spring 2012. She keeps tellign me it is too early for FH and I to plan, but FH and I are paying for wedding and want to know what we are getting in to. Have you guys started looking around/getting quotes or booking any vendors? Thanks a bunch!

We booked our place in March and now were looking at photo and video. Were probably booking that middle/end of July. You have time if you want to wait but it's never to early!

My FH and I got engaged on April 16th and booked a RH June 18th. So no it's not too early; however many reception halls told us we were very early. They said most people book a year to 18mo. prior. We were 2 years in advance. So really it's up to you!!!

Its not b/c if you think about it you will get 2011/12 prices so its best and you will get the date you want too...dont listen to her ..LOL...i booked right away and got great prices and deals!@

we have only booked our hall so far. Ive been doing research so now I am ready to bok more. My next step is DJ, then photographer, which i plan to have by end of august. I will start looking at dresses in sept, oct.!

exactly this.. I have almost the same time line... I get that ' it's too early crap too' but guess what we are paying for our weddings ourselves and 18 months its not enough time IMO...

Not at all! It's your wedding so you can book/plan however and whenever you want!! I plan on continuing the planning around September, only because FH wants to see the grand showcase at our venue.... happy planning!!!

It's not too early. You can start looking and getting ideas and choosing who you want to book at this point. Your less than two years out and it really stinks when someone else books the vendor you wanted because they booked earlier than you. If you know what you want--go for it.

EXACTLY!! I was at my venue the other day and one of the BM's said that someone came in trying to book my wedding day- the earlier the better IMO

Thank you ladies!! we had booked our rh before we were engaged, because we are paying ourselves it worked out better for us. I didnt expect to be engaged until 2012, he totally caught me off guard when he asked.
I wanted to start getting ideas on pricing and getting 2011 prices for 2013 sounds like an amazing thought.
You gals are wonderful, i was letting her bother me too much.
