Too early to buy Hershey Kisses favors for wedding in July?
Do you ladies think it's too early for me to buy Hershey Kisses that I'll be using as part of my favors for a July wedding? They're on sale through the Knot right now and I was thinking about ordering them but am concerned that they might either melt or get all dry and icky like chocolate does when it's old. Do you think five months is too much time for it to sit around???
If you think I should wait, then when do you think is a good time to order them?

Not sure... fh and i bought hershey kisses in Oct on sale for December Christmas cookies and when we opened them they were stale and some had white specks... very odd...

I think anytime between now and April would be ok...normally the dry crusty grossness occurs after chocolate kind of melts and resolidifies. It shouldn't be toooooooo hot for the chocolate to melt before the wedding.
I consider myself an expert on nasty resolidified Hershey's Kisses, because my mother keeps the dark chocolate ones in a dish in the living room, and I always go to eat them in the late summer and they're already nasty.

you'd prob be ok, just keep them in a cool dry place!

Thanks! I'm concerned about those little white spots that you mentioned. I would hate it if my guests opened their kisses after the wedding and they were all gross looking. Even if they still taste good I don't want them to look bad, KWIM? Maybe I'll ignore the sale and wait until it's closer to the wedding...Or buy them and put them in my fridge, though they'd probably all get eaten by the time July rolls around if they're that visible to us!!!

We're ordering Hershey Kisses from Hershey and our wedding is in May. I'm not ordering until April.

I would say yes....I have a similar situation...my favors are maple syrup but I decided to wait until it got closer so it is fresher...wait another month or two

I would wait...they will go on sale again and then you wont have to worry. Also I think if you put them in the fridge they will get the wite spots at least that happened to my choc chips that I put in my fridge. HTH

why dont you wait for the after easter sale they will have nice colors and it will be closer to the wedding

It's early. I'd wait until it's closer. You don't want to risk them spoiling and having to rebuy them all over again. Then you'll lose the money you saved by buying them on sale now.

Hershey's Kisses will NEVER go away. . .I would probably buy them in June if I were you, just to play it safe.

Personally I would wait.
i think sometimes when you put in the the fridge or freezer they actually get those white marks on them.

I got mine for end of july, I figured I don't need to worry about them as much now as I do in June, when I would need to have them anyway. Just keep them in a cool dry place. The expiration date on them isnt until december so Im sure as long as I don't do anything stupid i will be fine.
