too early to register???

ok...I need some thoughts here.

As you can see, we are getting married 12/1/12. In my mind, registering is the last thing i'm wanting to take care of because we have so much time. My concern is that items may get discontinued (one of my friends had that problem for registering so early) or not be available.

Last week at work, 3 separate people came up to me to ask if we were registered yet. My guess is that those people want to get us an engagement gift. We also haven't even decided if we want to have an engagment party yet.

One specific person told me I should register because if I don't, our engagment will get old over time and people may forget to give us a gift.

so...my question to you ladies, is it too early to register?

It's not too early. FH and I registered yesterday. Our eparty is coming up and everyone keeps asking us where we are registered. We went to Macys and picked items that are open stock so we don't have to worry about an item being discontinued. We can also view the registery online and can see if any items do get discontinued then just find something us to put on our list.

Def not too early! BUT ~ we went to BBB for our e-party and they suggested that we only register for things that were 1. Easy to store/transport and 2. Unlikely to be discontinued (unlike, say, a specific comforter). We totally took this advice and while we still had a range of prices available we only registered for about 2 dozen things total to start out with. We figured once the shower approaches we will add to it HTH! PS - plan a few hours at the stores! Me and FH thought we would be in and out and even though we agreed on pretty much everything there is sooo much to choose from!!!
