My sister lived in shanghai China for several months last year. While there, she went to huge warehouses, chose fabrics and had beautiful custom clothing made that cost nearly nothing in American $$. She said they made wedding dresses too. You just looked in a catalouge and pointed one out and poof in a month you have a dress that looks designer. I found an e-bay seller that is based in shanghai and makes designer copies, custom. Her selection is limited but one of her dresses is a maggie and I like it alot. The cost is $160 and free shipping...crazyness I know! The dress is made of silk and you just send her the measurments. She has all good reviews but I don't think any are brides. I think im just going to chance it, since it's not a huge amount of money. I'll let everybody know in a couple months if it works out! Im planning for the worst.

Definatly go for it. $160 is not a huge amount of money to lose. I definatly think the gain is greater than the risk!

That sounds like it could be great! But you never know with ebay - I would love to know how it turns out!

My mother goes to China all the time and gets custom clothes for us. You can get a custom tailored suit made for $25 in 24hrs! Its insane. So I don't think its too good to be true, I say go for it!

This is the dress. I do have my friends as a back up. I can always wear this for a trash the dress shoot.
I like this one as well but I think it might be too sexy and not enough traditional.. I orginally saw myself in a poofy poofster (like the Maggie Sabelle) I have done a 360 to show off my hard earned figure.

i'd go with what makes you look good, tradition be damned

it's only $160, so if it ends up being terrible, eh it wasn't a lot of money, but on the other hand it may be gorgeous!!

I'm sorry...I hate to dissent...
There are factories in China that have children working in sweatshop conditions making these kinds of dresses. I personally would NOT support these practices by buying a dress. Not to mention I have heard horrendous reviews of the quality; they're all over the internet and on eBay (where there are a ton of sellers).
No matter the cost, I would not chance it. Save up the money and buy the real thing (new or used on eBay).
