Too many??

Too many??

Would you say 6 flowergirls is too many? I'm thinking so, but I keep going back and fourth about it, but the background of it is that 4 of the six are of equal relation to me and were already promised, and at that point, what's 2 more?? And they wouldn't actually be throwing flowers, my church doesn't allow it, so they'd just be holding a basket or something)

If l do decide to have all 6, I was thinking rather than having a parade of them walking together at once.. they belong to all of my 5 bridesmaids (each bridesmaid has 1 daughter and one has 2 daughters, equaling the 6..) so I thought my bridesmaids could each walk down the aisle with their daughter(s)... (side note, 3 of them are under 3 years old and would also benefit walking with their moms)...

too much?? My mom thinks I'm crazy and that too many would 'steal the show'... Opinions please...

I think that will definetly be too overwhelming! Have you thought about what it's like to get little kids up in the morning to put them in fancy dresses and do their hair?! Not to mention dress shopping for them? It's nice of you to want to include your BMs kids but I think it's a bit much. You probably should have thought this through before making promises to people. IMO.

I have to agree, that's WAY too many.

I think maybe 2 or 3 is absolute highest I would go... and one is certainly enough... I can't imagine dealing with 6 little girls, especially 3 of them being so young!

Re: Too many??

how do you say to your closest friends and sisters, um I'd like your daughters to be included but not yours...? especially when they will all be at the church anyway..

To clarify, the one thing my FH really wanted was his 3 nieces (who are the older ones) to be flowergirls, so I couln't tell him no. And the 4th is my ONLY niece, so if his 3 were in, I wanted mine in... So since it was a mini parade already, that's why I'm considering the last 2 and having them walk with their moms.

then have four - the ones who are family - and tell them 'since you all have such wonderful daughters, and we couldn't have all of them, we had to go with the ones who are blood related'

look, if you REALLY want all six, then have all six - you asked for our opinions on whether or not that was too many, and in my opinion it's too many - and let me tell you, now six weeks before my wedding, I am unbelievably grateful that I kept my bridal party as small as possible - and I hear/see more drama surrounding large bridal parties than pretty much anything else. And remember, 6 may not be a lot more than 4... but when you remember that those 2 are actual people, and not just people, but very young children, who have tempter tantrums and needs and whims and just aren't going to care if you tell them 'it's MY wedding, so you need to listen to ME!' that's 2 more possibilities for headache - and as sweet and wonderful as little girls that age are, they are, by nature, unpredictable and cranky at times.

but in the end, it's your wedding, so do what makes you happy. I wouldn't do it, personally - but again, it's YOUR wedding.

Re: Too many??

i think its alot, but how many people are in your bridal party? if it 6 bm and 6 ushers maybe you could alternate so it wouldn't look like there were so many??

I say go for it! If there are already 4 what is 2 more. Plus I think it would be cute and your BM's would be so happy to have a picture with there daughter in a similiar dress as them aww.

Re: Too many??

I would say yes that 6 little girls in a wedding are too many. I would think that it would too hard to control everything...but I am biased because we didn't want to have kids at the wedding at all.

No one can steal the show from the bride. dont care how cute those little girls are.

The idea of them walking with their moms is nice. Or they can walk in pairs. I am thinking pairs b/c it may be easier for them to remember what to do if they walk up in pairs, then walk back in pairs when their moms walk w/ the gm.

I'm having 3 ringbearers and 3 flowergirls so, no, I don't think 4 is too many! I think it will be adorable!!!

Re: Too many??

Thank you all for your input!

To reply to some of the above, Entire bridal party will consist of 5 bridesmaids and 5 ushers (and either the 4 or 6 flowergirls mentioned above) and that would be it. I would have the ushers already up at the alter and not walk down the aisle (I've been seeing this at a lot of weddings recently). And I was thinking babysitter or family member up front to guide the little girls into a pew. I always pictured weddings as kid-free zones.. but kid-free wasn't an option for FH's side of the family, so we figured may as well incorporate them in and get some cute pics with their moms

Thanks again ladies!

Re: Too many??

i do not think it is too many...it is YOUR day and you have to be happy with what you want...
if 6 flowergirls is what you like then go for it...

that would be some cute pictures of you with all the 6 little girls....

i am having 2 moh 2 best men 7 bridesmaids 7 groomsment

3 ringbearers and 1 flower girl

so i like the idea of a big bridal party....

Re: Too many??

They would definitely steal the show but it would be so cute and different. My mom has a problem with me having one flower girl and one ring bearer. So go with what you want but if you do go with that than definitely I want to see those pics b/c kids aren't good at standing or sitting still.

its your wedding and entirely up to you

I think it is cute, but definitely a lot. In the end though, you can do whatever you want. My concerns would be that picture taking might be confusing and stressful. It's hard enough trying to coordinate a bunch of adults! BTW, how old are the girls? I think that makes a big difference.

If that is what you want, it will look great. I have actually seen something like this on one of those wedding shows and it was really cute, they all walked down in a group together, rather than 1 by 1. Are they all around the same age? Are they well behaved. I think you will be fine and if anyone says anything tell them they don't have to do it at their wedding.

AND you can do a super cute photo like this! I love it, it is so sweet!
