Too much for Invites?

Too much for Invites?

Today FH and I went looking at invitations to get some prices and ideas. We saw invitations that we really liked but I think they may be too expensive. For 125 invitations and all the stuff that comes with it, it would run us about $500. Do you guys think that is too much? FH doesn't think so but I have no clue what to think.

not bad in price at all!

I think whether or not it is expensive depends on the type of invitation. If that is letterpress, grab that offer, becuase I think it is quite reasonable... If it is an easier / less laborious printing method, and your invitation doesn't have other embellishments (like ribbons / appliques), it likely is a bit pricy.

In the end, you only have to answer to yourselves. If you've searched around for a while, youlove these invites, and they are within your budget, then they are perfect!

As for us, we ordered 50 custom letterpress invites with 2 custom ink colors, RSVPs, and printed envelopes, and paid a whopping $650....

but.... we LOVE them.....

and best of all, they're going to arrive any day now

Im totally biased because I am being VERY frugal with wedding stuff... but I went to Party City and got 100 invites for $125. They are Carlson Craft, I love them, and are very good quaility. People are going to look at the info and toss the invite away. There is no reason to spend $3+ on an invite, in my opinion.

If you are trying to cut corners AT ALL, invites seem like the perfect place to do it. If not, then go for them, its not crazy ridiculous, but its gotta be something you are REALLY into.

that is so true.... it is easy to keep a budget with the stationary. And frankly, you don't really sacrifice beauty at all. I just completely fell in love w/ our invites.... I just budgeted extra for that, and kept to a tight budget for my dress and accessories...

To coordinate with my invites (and prevent budget chaos) I got some really pretty 'print yourself' menu cards, place cards, programs, and thank you cards at Target..... I also found the same stationary line at Michael's crafts.

Very good point. I am going to make my own invites..went to party city purchased two boxes for $50..and will print at home. I def. dont want to spend too much on this part of the planning. However, if you have the money to do it, it does sounds resonably.

Honestly, I think $500 is an average price for invites. If you and FH love them, I say go for it!

I know that I will spend well over $1,500 for my invites (after a 25% discount) and will also have them addressed by a hand calligrapher.

The stationery is very important to me and not something I am willing to skimp on.

At the very least I think most guests hold on to invites for 2 months between receiving them and the day of your wedding. I have a box filled with every invitation I've ever received. And they give guests an idea of what to expect for the wedding, they are the first impression.

That's about average price for that many invites...So I have a friend who is a graphic artist making mine so they will only cost 300. IT's crazy what they get for paper these days!!!

I havn't really looked around too much yet at prices for invites BUT I absolutely love these!! I think they're a little different then a traditional invite and they're about $8 each. BeyondTheInvite.com and they have plenty of themes. I choose this for a winter/xmas wedding.
