With all the money we are spending on our weddings, $200 isn't bad at all!

Well done!

That's ridiculous, for a dress that you are going to wear once. I would never spend that kind of money, no matter how much I loved it.

If it's worth it you, then that's all that matters, IMHO. I love my dress, so I'm happy with my decision. Everything else I tried on just wasn't it, and I even tried on ones that were more expensive than the one I ended up buying.

Heather, can you post a pic of it???

I agree with both of you. Personally, I could not spend so much. However, if it means a lot to you and you love it, then its up to you what you want to spend money on. Just curious though.. how did you wind up spending thousands more? The stores I went to I gave them my limit, and they didn't show me anything over that number.

I should clarify, that after all the alterations are done, I'll be about $2K over my dress budget. But technically, since I didn't factor in alterations or anything when I first established my budget, it really ends up being about $1K more.

I put my budget down on their form, and the first dress they brought out was $900 over my budget. This is why most people tell you to undershoot your budget, because they will mostly bring out the first dress being the most expensive, in hopes you'll fall in love with it. I feel into this little trap, but at that point, I was so tired of trying on dresses and being disappointed, I was euphoric that I found something that I loved.

It's not so bad, I put down half, and I have about nine months to come up with the other half. It's scary how much room you make for things. $2K now sounds like water to me after all this money we're spending!

ETA:: I forgot about tax, tax was a killer too!

Re: too much for my dress???

I didn't have the experience of them showing me a more expensive dress, except for one they showed me by accident and the woman was so apologetic because it was 2k over my budget. It was ok, i didn't like it anyway. I did try on one that was about 1k over my budget, and I did really like it, but I also loved a dress that was 1k under my max which was really similar to the more expensive one, so I went with less expensive one.
Was that a confusing story?

Yea and I agree with you stupid TAX!!!

LOL, no I got it. Dress is shopping is hard, but oh so much fun!

Yeah, tax stinks. Good thing I'm borrowing my sister's headpiece, lol, I save money on that.

Yea, I am borrowing my friends veil. I just have to make sure it goes with the dress!

I agree. Different people find different aspects of the wedding important. To each her own! I definitely can see falling in love with a too expensive gown, so easy to do!

Come on now....just because you wouldn't do it, doesn't make it ridiculous. I'm spending thousands more on my honeymoon than I originally intended and you know what? I have no regrets.

Ha ha, my problem is whatever I'm working on at the moment is important. One minute, it's photography, then the next is DJs...I can't wait to see what I'll be like when it comes time for flowers! Yikes! I need to learn to draw the line somwhere.

HAHA - that is SO me. I was just thinking about that. First reception hall. Then band. Then photo. Now I am working on flowers that I said before was 'not that important' and I'm going a bit overboard (suddenly they seem sooo important). I told FH I would work an extra day to help pay off whatever I go over the original flower budget - what is WRONG WITH ME?!? Even invitations I picked out these fancy ones and FH just nipped that in the bud
