too old to be flower girls...

too old to be flower girls...

my fh has 2 female cousins and i have 1 that will be around 10 by the wedding. one of his cousins asked if she could be a flower girl (probably prompted by one of her parents). i don't want flower girls at all (we aren't throwing flowers on the aisle), and i also think that they are too old to be flower girls.

i suggested that they be in charge of handing out programs and bubbles or whatever if we decided to do that, and he doesn't like that idea.

we already have more people in our bridal party than i want because he couldn't decide between people, and i don't want to add three more people. plus 2 of the girls have brothers a couple years older and so we would probably have to give them something to do, too. i also don't want to have to worry about three 10 year olds being wrangled that morning, and also don't want to deal with certain parents of theirs that morning either.

any suggestions for what they can do?

I'm having them hand out programs and such like you suggested. Otherwise, i got nothing. Sorry!

they could carry a 'Here comes the Bride' banner....or is that too involved (I know you said the BP was already too big). The program thing works too!

As for wrangling 3 10 year olds, I get it- I have FIVE flower girls!!!! 2 4 year olds, and 2 6 year olds!!!!

God give me strength.....

I also think you could assign them the 'helper' role of handing out programs, giving out bubbles, etc.

Otherwise, are you having a church ceremony? Maybe the three of them can bring up the gifts? That way they have a special 'all eyes on us' moment, too.

I know, I don't know why my fiance is being such a pain about this.

I'm getting married at the RH. They could give out the yarmulkes, too.

sigh...

My flower girls are 6 and 9 so I don't think they are too old but if you don't want to add to your bridal party you shouldn't have to. I have another niece who is 11 and instead of adding her she is handing out programs etc with my 11 yr old nephew. But she has been a flower girl a couple of times already and the others haven't so she understood it was their turn this time.
Just give them a 'job' so they feel like they are part of your day.

My cousin's daughter is in my BP and she'll be just a month shy of 10 at the wedding and I made her a junior bridesmaid.

She's wearing the same dress as the bridesmaids, but modified because she is so young. Also, I might get her something other than a boK to hold just to be cute. haven't decided yet.
