Too old to be RB?

Too old to be RB?

When we got engaged, our niece wasn't even born (She'll be 7 at the wedding) and out nephew wasn't yet two, so there was no hesitation about having them be FG and RB. But now at the wedding, she'll be 7, which I think is still young enough to be a FG, but nephew will be 9. That's a little old for RB, isn't it?

Any suggestions on how to include him?

I don't think it's too old. One of my RB's will be 8,

I don't think that's too old. I think it'll be really cute with the 9 year old and 7 year old!

My stepson was 9 when we got married. I also thought he was too old to be walking down the aisle with a pillow with fake rings attached to it and if I had asked him to he probably would have laughed in my face! So instead we made him a jr. groomsman.

it's not TOO old!!! if that's old... then my RB is ancient at 13! hahahaha

Mine is 9 too. There are no rule. Plus he doesn't actually carry the rings. At least mine isn't.

we have two young boy cousins in our wedding, ages 8 and 9, they will be junior groomsmen.

I dont think so....my flowergirls are 3 & 6 and my ring bearer is 5.

I don't think it is. We only had two FG's, no RB, but they were 6 & 8. I was happy they were a little older because although really young FG's an RB's are adorable, I didn't have to worry about them crying or refusing to walk down the aisle.

I am really off the traditional RB here, I have a boy and a girl, and they are both 11! yes, they are old but I dont care. We wanted to incorporate them into the wedding and we didnt want jr BMs or GMs.

Definitely not too old. At least you don't have to wrry about him throwing a temper tantram walking down the isle. He's going to do it with no hesitation.

See I have the opposite, my flower girl just turned 1 so she'll be a little over 2 by the time of the wedding, she's kinda walkin now but I thought she might be a little too young

I don't think 9 is too old. My cousin was 10 at his brother's wedding and it wasn't awkward at all that he was the RB b/c his sister was also in the wedding and was 5 at the time.

If you do think he's too old, I've heard of people having 'older' boys hold a pretty sign that says 'Here Comes the Bride' right before the FG walks down the aisle. Just a thought!

I don't think so. I'm debating making my cousin an FB and he'll be 10 by that point...

I'd say that if he's a small or average 9 year old, it's fine for him to be a ring bearer. If he happens to be a big kid, just boost him up to Jr. Groomsman. THe only difference is really the title and the pillow. There's not really 'functionality' in either part!
