Too soon for a shower??

My FH and I will be relocating down to Florida in about 1 1/2 mths.

My mom and FMIL wants to give us a shower/going away party since I don't think I will be back in NY till thanksgiving or the wedding.

We had our engagement party at the beginning of March, do you think its too soon to have a shower in july?

We just can't see buying all these things for our apartment when we would probably get them for our shower.

I voted wrong! I meant to vote 'no' it is not too soon for a shower. If you will be out of state until November and need things now - I say go for it!

Thats how I feel. But I don't know how guests will feel.

Don't worry about what the guests think. You may want to have it now especially since it will be a combination party. Thanksgiving weekend may be hectic for you as it will be closer to your wedding. If you want it now...go for it!

I don't think it's too soon for a shower. I live OOT and so do a few of my BM's, so we had to pick a weekend that worked for all of us, and it's about 4 months before my wedding.

I say do whatever is the most convenient for everyone.

I dont think its too soon. Its a perfect time - before you move. Youre going to need all those things.

I think if you make word of the move as the reason for it so soon, people will understand

but i dont think anyone would question its being so early

PSST- and tell them to mail all your gifts to FL so you dont have to move them

My SIL's gave me my first shower in May and my wedding wasn't until October. So no, I don't think it's to early. Especially, if you are moving.

I was superstitious though and wouldn't use any of my gifts until after the wedding.

hey if they want to throw it, let them. And its pratical for you to have the stuff now when you need them rather than go out and buy the stuff for the apparent yourselves only to get it replaced in six months. SoI would go for it if i were you!

you can include a cute little poem on the invites l saying somehing like,

The bride-to-be is is moving to the sunshine date
let's give her a shower before the moving date

or something...
