Top Hat Place Cards

These adorable top hats carry the formal black tie theme through to the reception table as place card holders.

Cut a circle 3 inches in diameter from black cardstock for the rim of the hat.
Then cut a 6 x 2 inch strip using the same paper. Roll the strip into a cylinder so the ends overlap and glue the ends together, trimming off any excess.
Cut out tabs with the same black paper and glue to the inside of the cylinder. Apply glue to the tabs and join the circle and the cylinder together to form the shape of the top hat.
Glue a 5/8 inch satin ribbon around the base of the top hat.
Cut slits at the top portion of the cylinder to make the top hat function as a place card holder.
Print place seating cards on 3 by 1 ½ inch pieces of paper with a thank you note at the bottom to give each guest your most sincere appreciation for their attendance.
Slip the place seating cards neatly into the slits of the top hat and place on each plate!
