Top Shelf v Premium Liquor

Top Shelf v Premium Liquor

What's the difference? Being a 2010 bride means I get to stress over all these details!

When I booked at FH my Banquet Manager did mention it was Top Shelf but was nice enough to state it didn't include Grey Goose or Ketel One, just Smirnoff, etc.

I am not much of a martini drinker so the exclusion of Grey Goose won't bother me, will it bother my guests? Should I ask to have a couple of bottles included?

I'm sure it wont bother anyone. Premium is like 'middle shelf' and most of the time they'll have Stoli and Smirnoff (which, has gotten better). Something like Georgi would be considered a lower grade.

Another example, they wont have black label johnny walker, but they'll have red.

I used these 2 liquors because thats what FH and I drink and we've never been bothered with it.

some people might ask for grey goose, etc but i cant imagine anyone would complain about having to drink smirinoff instead. as long as its free, people will be happy!

i'm not a huuuuge lover of smirinoff (i can actually tell the difference bw that and absolut, grey goose, svedka, etc) but i'd still drink it happily. i've also had plenty of bottom shelf no-name vodka too and i don't mind unless it's the really really bottom of the barrel stuff.

if you're negotiating, it might be worth trying ot ask them to throw in top shelf, but if it costs extra i highly doubt people will notice.

(our hall included top shelf automatically, many will throw it in)

edit: if you have some big drinkers coming, you might try to see if they'll throw in a few top shelf bottles, and use those if people ask for it by name, otherwise use the premium stuff

i know FH has a price difference in the 2. a $3 pp difference. i honestly wouldn't care what was there b/c i'm not a big mixed drink person but if you wanted something like Amaretto thrown in, ask them (this might not be included in the premium line). however, i don't think they'll substitute Grey goose for Stoli
