I just dropped my son off at the first day of summer camp.

Its a day camp, but it just melts my heart watching how brave he is... He doesn't know anyone and I'm SURE by the end of the day he's going to have 10 new best friends, but I just can't help but want to hug him... seeing him sitting there by himself while the other boys (who already know each other) bounce around and play.

I am NOT going to relax until 5 when I pick him up...

He's SUCH a great kid. Very easy going and friendly. Its not him to be quiet and on the outside, so it irks me to see him like that. I know the MINUTE I left he probably started chatting up another kid... OMG i just love him so much

How old is he? He will be fine, they always make friends and he will have a blast.

I think we feel for them more then do for themselves. He must have looked so cute at just 7 sitting there waiting to get on the bus....I want to give him a hug now too, but as you said as soon as you walked away he probably started to chat it up with someone and is fine. I probably would have walked around the corner and went back just to see if he was talking with someone. Us moms are just too much sometimes with our protectiveness, but that's what makes us good moms.
Give him a great big kiss as soon as he jumps off that bus later and give him one for me too!!!!!!

I felt that way last year with FSS - we had moved so he was in a new summer camp and didn't know a soul. I was terrified he wouldn't make friends and would hate the place (he is a shy kid, but he is so awesome once he opens up!) That was long day for me!

When we picked him up at the end of the day he couldn't stop talking about how much he loved the new camp and he couldn't wait to go back the next day!

I hope the day goes quickly for you! I'm sure it's going quickly for your son since he'll be having such an awesome time!

omg don't even get me started. I went home and CRIED the first day of kindergarten. All of the kids were just standing against the wall looking at each other...

Once home, I took his baby blanket and curled up on the bed.
