Torn between two Dj's

Torn between two Dj's

Ok, as you all know I had recently saw Starlight Express & had a good experience with them and what they offer.
I also happen to be talking with a DJ who did my FSIL's wedding and also did a good job. He isnt a 'well known' vendor. Anyways, I almost opted him out completely because when it came down to numbers, he wasnt really near our budget. Then looking at both, we saw that if they were going to be near the same price....Starlight Express was the way to go.
Now the other DJ got back to me and took off $550 from the quote! SO of course Im like, YES!
The only difference is the lighting we are getting.
SO I guess my question is, how important is the lighting?? We would be getting a 12ft Trust(?..that is what the DJ said) opposed to an immaculate lighting that is computerized.

Im all for saving the $$$$$$$. Isnt that the way to go?

We didnt even consider lighting, because it seemed like too much money... I dont think i have ever been to a wedding that had it, so it didnt make a difference to me...

If you already know that the one DJ does an awesome job I would just feel safer going with that - if they keep everyone up and moving and they listen to what you guys want I think thats more important - But thats just me -

Well...I would definitely want to save money anyway I could. If that DJ is taking off $550 plus you already are familiar with his performance and you liked him. Sounds great to me!!! But if the lighting is really important to you then you have to way your options. What's more important to you?

I say save your $$! I have never noticed lights at a wedding. If the cheaper DJ is good, book him! Just think of all the things you could do with the $$ saved!

there's sometimes a big difference between the computer lighting and standard, sometimes not. It depends on what you like. I don't think I'm going to get lighting at all, it's not a nightclub or a bar mitzvah, it's a wedding that's just how I feel..I've been to plenty of weddings with the lighting and it looked nice...) Also if the room sin't super dark, whih it won't be, you hardly notice the lighting..so unless it' the difference between standard lightign and them flaoting your names around the room in hearts, I'd say no big deal!

After looking at the contracts from my sister's wedding that she gave me for reference, I learned that she did have lighting, but I didn't even notice that they were there. But you have to think about what you really like and weigh the options.
