Why do you think other creatures have not evolved? Most, if not all, animals and organisms have evolved.

I know this is going to sound retarted but what are you refering to has evolved?
I never really was intrested in Darwin's theory, but I am intrested in what you think?

I hope we are the end of the road

Man, birds, fish, plants, etc, etc, etc ... they all have evolved and adapted.

I'm not religious at all...but I thought I would just add something that someone told me...how you can believe in Christianity and evolution at the same time:

In Genesis...you can interpret the word 'day' liberally and say that a day was 'God's' day and not the 24-hour period that we have labeled day...therefore that divine day could have lapse 100,000s of years...and during that time evolution could occur...

they also said it is quite possible that 'God' told Moses what happened during creation on 7 different days...

I'm just putting out this information...not saying its true or that I believe it...

I hope this doesn't offend anyone, it is just my take on it, and I do not encourage my behaviour on anyone else.

Having said that, here we go.....

Like anything else, I take it with a grain of salt. The antiquity of it seems to be the major downfall..... for example, there are lines in the books of Timothy that state that women are animals, and are not fit to attend or enter into a church. Obvoiusly we are over that antiquated line of thought, because women are not only allowed in church but welcome as eucharistic ministers, and even figting to be priests as well.

It is called faith for a reason...it is important, I beleie to examine what can be derived as historical, and what is significant merely as experience. Like the Pentacost... it amazes me how so many experienced a presence that was beyond explaination, yet all who experienced it recognized for what it was. Pretty impressive stuff, even if it is not historical.

Also, the whole thing with saints buggs me out. I have seen a saint's body (in the older churches they keep them on display)... they do not deteriorate like regualr bodies, and are not treated or anything. Some of them are from the early 1500's and they look only 5 years deteriorated... there has got to be something to that as far as I am concerned. But hte truth of the matter is, I am not a confirmed catholic, nor am I seekign a religion to fill it's shoes.... I am content merely researching and reading, and finding my own faith among what I explore.

BTW... regarding the Evolution & Genesis discussion, there is whole school of thought regarding that. The vatican admits that the creation story is just that ...a story meant to oversimplify the wonder of the creation of the universe in a manner which the common people at the time could understand. there is a very good article on this... I fogot the name... something like 'Reconcilling Old Lovers' or something like that. It is an exploration of how science and religion can co-exist in modern society... it was a result of Vat II.

My grandfather is a deacon in the Catholic church, and he always told me that the bible is not meant to be taken literally word for word, because like us, they are only human, and we know that nobody is perfect, and every person can interpret something differently. For example, I believe in creation, and I believe in evolution. How do we know that 'adam and eve' werent really two cells that were the first living beings? Maybe the person who interpreted the message from God couldnt believe that there were other living things before humans, and assumed that when God meant that life began he was talking about people?

Re: Total curiousity...

oh.. and my thoughts as far as evolution goes... we, as humans, see ourselves as the top of the hill, I suppose. What we sometimes fail to reason is that we are only a small step in a millions of year old chain of events! We have existed for such a small percentage of earth's history, and who knows where evolution will take us a million more years into the future??? We are the only (perhaps first?) species that has developed what we think of as reason, thought, choice, etc 'conscience' (I know I am spelling that wrong).

Is this because God had deemed us worthy? Is it because we are just the first ones to evolve this way? well, who knows. I suppose your faith will answer that one for you.

There had to be the first animal that evolved to have legs and walk out of the swamp.... at that time, it was the most evolved being... good thing evolution didn't stop there!!!!

I think the stories are all made up, they were done so to create religion and keep order with the people

I beleive we need to believe in a higher being, its comforting in death, birth and lifes ups and downs.

Wasn't Eve created from Adam's rib???? I think that negates the cell theory

Cells came from other cells, but more importantly, you can't take this statement literally. Cells do in fact reproduce asexually, and produce daughter cells from thier own cell body. So, Eve could have been an offspring of Adam.

Re: Total curiousity...

Imagin....

I understand how cells work. WHat i didn't understand was how you talked
about Adam and Eve being cells? Doesn't the Bible say that Eve was created
by taking a RIB from Adam.? Hence implying bones? Cells do not have ribs.
THis is why i don't follow what you are saying.
And how do you explain Eve having temptation and deciding to eat the apple?
A cell fell on top of an apple and it absorbed it?

I am not trying to be a pain...just curious? I like learning others views
