Totally ANGRY with BB&B

Totally ANGRY with BB&B

I registered at BB&B for most of my stuff.. Except my china, I registered at Fortunoff... BB&B has like 30% of my registry not in stock anymore! A friend of my mothers is a real estate agent and she gets updates from certian distibuters (could be BS, I don't know for sure), but she said that BB&B is filing bankruptcy and all the items that are out of stock, they won't get anymore.. When I ask the bridal rep there, they tell me 'Hopefully, within a few months' or 'I'm not to sure'... Could this really happen???? BB&B going out of business???

Either way, it's annoying me because I registered for soooo much stuff there and they won't have it in time for my shower.. FH says that, but I don't no ANYTHING about my shower...

Has anyone else heard anything like this???

I know the BB&B Bankruptcy rumours have been going around but it's not them - it's Linen's N' Things and they filed for Bankruptcy protection, which means they're not quite 'out of the game' just yet.
If you're really concerned, perhaps you can find a Main Office or Customer Service number you can call to get more of a straight answer - maybe if they hear you're considering moving your entire registry they'll be straight with you.

Yeah, I should really consider trying that.. They have to give me some sort of answer eventually, I hope

Chances are the stuff that is not available anymore is because it's not being made by the manufacturer. BBB is NOT going out of business and has NOT filed for bankruptcy.

See, the only thing that lead me to believe this is she showed me a list that she had and it said BB&B, Linens and things and a few other businesses but those 2 stuck out the most because I shop there alot.

Aha! She's in Real Estate, right?

BB&B is not going out of business. What large chains do is they close the non-productive locations and open new ones in areas they think will be better, demographically. OR, they'll close a store if they don't own the property and the lease is up and they can't re-negotiate the rent.

I received an email with their name on it too. They are definitely NOT bankrupt. Call their corporate office to verify. FH got the email too and called me concerned. BBB is okay.

So true, this happens with certain stores in the mall all the time too. They move to BETTER locations!

I remember someone recently posted that list on the Newlywed board. But it was worded ridiculously giving the impression they were all going out of business but they're not.

OMG-I had issues getting stuff off someones BBB registry recently. Everything was marked 'see assoc' and then when they looked it up- it wasnt available locally.

Re: Totally ANGRY with BB&B

I just had the same problem when getting a gift for a friend's shower today. I was so embarrassed that she wouldn't have an actual gift to open, so I bought her a bridal cookbook as well (just so she could open something). They had only 2 items off her 4 page registry in the store! ***?!

This was one of them many reasons I took my BBB registry down. Not to mention the fact that the girl at the registry table tried to tell me my friend's registry didn't exist! I had to call her bridesmaid to get the registry number for the moron.

Yeah this happens when stuff isn't available anymore and it's because the manufacturer discontinues it.

Not sure why it was such an issue. Just remember some BBB's are bigger than others and they may not have had the item in their particular location. She also might have registered for items that were season and are no longer available. I try to check my BBB registry to avoid this since I know my shower is coming up. It's retail...things are bound to go out of stock.

The B2B should have checked her registry regulary to make sure to avoid something like what happened to youl.

Nothing was seasonal and everything was all traditional everyday stuff. I was at the East Northport location and they checked about 4 other stores in the area and every store had the same issue.

No matter. It's over now. Thank goodness!

Re: Totally ANGRY with BB&B

This happened to us. We registered a while ago for the engagement party and in February started registering for more stuff because half of our old stuff was discontinued, not available, etc.

Alot of things are just seasonal as well. bedding, bath, plates, etc. so they change soooo quickly.

Good luck!
