Totally embarrassed!!! i cant belive what happen! Kinda funny!

So as you all now im a nursing student and just about finished with school! Well i'm doing my Labor & Delivery rotation this week at southside and well its boring cuz were only allowed to observe! So today the doc came in to see my patient and her baby and said that he would be doing a circumcision so my friend and i were so excited that we would get to see some action... (as a side note im normally very squeemish, but seem to have overcome it since being in school) so we go in he gets started and i start to get that cold sweat, ringing in my ears, going to barf feeling so i step out of the room to get some fresh air and WAMMO... i PASS OUT right in the hall wall.. it was SOOOOO EMBARRASSING!!! I CANT BELIEVE THIS JUST HAPPENED! Smelling salt and all. as soon as i came too there was like 10 nurses around me and i woke up hysterical laughing and they were like OH MY GOD ARE YOU OK??? so i told them that i knew it was coming which was why i had left the room but thought i could let it pass.

So needless to say NO MORE CIRCUMCISIONS FOR ME!!!! tomorrow i was supposed to go to see a live brith.. i think i'll be passing up my turn! What i dont know wont hurt me, ignorance is bliss as far as im concerned!!

Just thought id share my embarrassing story with you girls and you could get a good laugh for the day!!

thanks girls! i really thought i would have been fine ive been to the OR and watched many surgeries! but i think this hit me like a ton of bricks cuz it was a 1 day old baby and he got no pain meds and he was just totally helpless!

i wont have to.. my teachers dont force us to see anything i asked to go.. so next time i will ask NOT to go!

That's why i didn't go into the medical field!

I passed out watching my aunt get a sonogram. I was so embarrassed!

OMG, at least you didn't hurt yourself when you fell out! I'm sure the doctor and mother you passed out in the hall too so you didn't distract the doctor .

Thats ok. A lot of my friends who are nurses have passed out when they first started observing. I think its normal..haha

That's funny!!! My cousin is a nurse and she was convinced labor & delivery was what she wanted to do. One live birth and she passed out on the floor!!! I was laughing so hard when I read your post because she had the SAME experience when she was in nursing school!!

I dont get sick over things like that.. I think that it would only bother me because it hurts the little baby!

awwww! sometimes things like that creep up on you when you least expect it! at least you laughed it off! that's exciting that you're almost done! good for you!!
