Totally You...

Totally You...

Awhile back I posted about the great experience we had buying my mom's dress at Totally You.

She just went for her alterations, and boy... what a completely different scenario. She said they were no longer polite and helpful, and they didn't fix a number of things on the dress that they had agreed to fix when my mom purchased it off the rack (she really wanted a specific color that had been discontinued so it was the last one).

As she put it, she thought they were great the first time we went, but now the 'honeymoon is over.'

Anyways, since I posted great things about them a few months back, I felt it was only fair to update.

To be honest with you... my mother went there to look for her dress and said they were the rudest people. She absolutely hated every second of it. Needless to say I was shocked given all of the rave reviews it gets on here. I guess it depends on the person who is helping you...

Sorry your mom had to deal with that...

Re: Totally You...

We had an okay shopping experience there. The people there weren't rude by any means, but you can kinda tell they were annoyed with us and just playing nice. LOL! And they were VERY pushy- they really wanted my mom to purchase a $500+ dress and kept remarking about what procrastinators we are for waiting so long! Then they kept opening the curtain on my mom changing and it was obnoxious to the point where I had to stand in front of the curtain and stop the lady when she tried it again.

Re: Totally You...

I'm not sure if you remember but I posted about my mom's horrible experience with the alterations. They made so many mistakes and even the day of my mother still wasn't happy. I posted in my review to go somewhere else for alterations b/c its definitely not their expertise there. From speaking with one of the employees there, it seems they have a lot of turnover with alterations. Sorry she had a bad experience....honestly, I would go get the dress and take it somewhere else.

We didnt have a great experience there. She kept insisting the dress my mom wanted was no longer made and was trying to push a dress that she didnt want. I've heard the alterations experience can be a bit scary as I believe they dont have a cap.

Sorry you guys are going through this.

yep no cap! which we knew before we purchased the dress but honestly, we didn't think it would be that much, the alterations cost almost as much as the dress!

Re: Totally You...

This is sad to hear BUT I look at it like 'You get what you pay for'. As I said on here before, my mother found a dress at a fancier store that we both loved but were 'still looking' and went to Totally You. The store is no-frills and while we didn't have a problem with the sales people they weren't the friendliest (but I've dealt with less than stellar salespeople many places. I'm buying the dress, not the saleswoman).

I WILL say they were able to order the same exact dress that we had seen at other stores for over $200 less. We have yet to see the final alterations and I'm *hoping* we don't have the same experience as above! They do seem to at least have good prices and her dress arrived even earlier than they thought it would. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Christine warned me about alterations there. My mom is taking her dress to a tailor that my family has been going to for years.

This is why my mom didn't get her dress there. she found 2 she loved but didn't like the fact that they wouldn't give her any idea on how much alterations would cost.

May I be honest with you.... they gave a me a not so nice vibe. Gorg dresses, but the lady that was helping us rushed my mom and FMIL out of there so fast that I was completely turned off by it.

Thats bs what they are doing. jerks.

Re: Totally You...

all my mom had to do was get a strap put on it they measured her she left it there and when we picked it up the straps were wrong. we waited 30-45 mins and they fixed it.
my mom finally found a dress that made her happy so like the help or not she ended up happy.
