Touching poem to FMIL

Touching poem to FMIL

In my online wedding travels, I came across this poem to a Mother in Law. The place I found it didn't give an author. I think I am going to read it when I give a gift to my MIL at the rehearsal dinner. Just reading it has me crying at my desk. I'm getting so emotional as I get closer to the wedding. No doubt about it, I will be one of those crying brides. Anyway, I thought I'd pass it on to you ladies:

You are the mother I receive the day I wed your son

You're welcome, I'm glad to be able to share it. Actually, I think I am going to print it up and frame it for her as part of her gift. I'm pretty good with Powerpoint and clipart. His mother is sick with Alzheimers and she doesn't really need anything so it will be nice to give her something that we can put on the wall in her room.

Now I'm about to cry at work! Geez, that should have had a warning label. Thanks for sharing!!!

How is everything going? I know you have had some ups and downs. It's getting so close. I saw your post the other day about the bridal asst not showing up! But you seem in good space, I hope it is going well...

What a touching poem, I only wish my FI's mother was alive so I could thank her for the wonderful man I am to marry in 21 days :'(

As it was told to me, remember that whoever is supposed to be there will be there. And yes, no matter who, what and how, you will be married to the man you love when you wake up on February 17th. But I know your day will be beautiful - especially with a great perspective like you have. My MOH said that someone said to her at her wedding 'I hope you're both very happy' and she said 'We already are.' :o)

We looked at the Port Jeff Coutry Club and were very impressed by it. We didn't book it only because it was a bit too far away

I read this poem to my MIL at the rehearsal dinner instead of giving her a traditional card. She got very teary eyed and thanked me for taking the time to do this. I found a similar one to read to my mother.

To put it quite bluntly...YES! We just got engaged and he keeps saying why are you trying to plan so much? I say let's elope and just do it and he says no, you know I can't do that! Ugh, mixed signals! Let's face it that is why guys aren't in charge of planning these things because they can't deal with the stress!! ;)!

I will look around for the poem now. I am not sure if I will be able to find the site again. Check back later to see if it's posted.

You should have gotten a book called 'Together For Life' at Pre-Cana
It guides you on how to pick your readings and not only gives yuo the readings, but explains their significance.

Would you mind letting me know where you found the similar poem for moms? I would like to present both my FMIL and my mom with the poems.

I am also 2/17/01

Can you share the words to the poem to your mother? I was hoping to come across something like that. Thanks.
Try to view any conflicts you have during your wedding planning as practice for how you will work through conflicts in your marriage. You will (hopefully) have many years together, many of us will have children and there will definitely be ups and downs. Just try to approach the whole thing with you eyes wide open and remember what you love about this person and come from that place of love during disagreements. I have been so fortunate. My fiance and I have become closer and closer with the wedding planning. I had to accept early on that he wasn't interested in picking out the china and other registry items. That's who he is. It doesn't matter to him what flowers I pick, he will defer to me on that too. On the other hand he has been great on helping me make all the favors and he does his tasks each time I ask him to handle some things. But I am the planner in the relationship. When we go on vactions, I'm the one who likes to research and read up on it. He's the one who likes to wing it more. We balance each other out in many ways. he has taught me to take things (including myself) a little less serious and I have given him a chance to see things from a 'deeper' angle. I don't mean to babble but wedding plans, the commitment (even if you are totally in love), the costs can all be overwhelming at times and he may be reacting to that. Just allow him space to be who he is but be sure that you let him know what is on your mind too. Good luck and try to enjoy the plans.
