So my mom is single and she just ended it with her long-time BF so she isn't bringing a date to the wedding. She's not in the best mood to begin with because of the situation, but now she's giving me grief about walking into the reception.
I've asked her if there's a friend she wants to walk in with 'NO' I've asked if she wants one of her BILs to walk her in 'NO' I've asked if she wants to walk in alone 'NO' I've even asked if she doesn't want to be introduced at all -and that caused a HUGE argument. It's not a big deal at the church because she's walking me down the aisle - it's just the reception.
What do I do? She's being a total PITA about this.
Can I have a groomsman walk her in? We have 4 groomsmen and 3 BMs so he wouldn't have to come back out and do double duty, but since my mom is the first person being introduced in, would it be funny for the GM to be announced then?
Help, please!! I'm completely stressed out over this. Have my DJ meeting Wed night and this is giving me nightmares. I'm trying to be sympathetic to my mom, but I'm losing it!!!

I would think it is fine for her to walk in with a groomsman. Just let the DJ know so he knows how to announce them

I would leave it up to her. Ask her who do you want tto walk in with? My mom was the same way. She chose to walk in alone. But I left it up to her-I didn't make any suggestions. Let her know when you need her decision by so you can give the info to the DJ.

Let her decide. And don't pressure that she needs to answer by Wednesday. She can make the decision two minutes before and all you have to do is tell the DJ.

date twin, I feel your pain, In the end mom will do as she wants, but I like the idea of a gm walking her down the aisle. My parents are divorced and I still have no idea what she wants to do!!!

Thanks Girls - I'm trying to be paitent, but I'm losing it a little bit. I've been trying to talk to her about this for 3 months now. Everytime I ask - she 'doesnt' want to discuss it.'
I keep telling her she needs to make a decision and she keeps ignoring it.

Re: tough mom situation
sorry you are going through the stress. . here are a few brainstorms . don't know if any of them are good. . .
Have you considered asking her to do it for the groomsman. . phrasing it like you don't want him to walk in alone and it would seem weird to have him walk in with two BM that way it wouldnt be to 'make her feel better' but to make him feel better?
some other thoughts. . .
or just do everyone solo. . or just walk in you and DH and don't announce the party
we just had us announced. .. too much drama, logisitics to do all the parents, steps, BP etc. . and it worked fine. .

Re: tough mom situation
I'll try the psychological 'it's good for the grooman' trick and see what happens.
I originally wanted just FH and I introduced in, but FMIL had an attack about that. I swear, dealing with family has been the worst part of this entire wedding planning process.
I think my mother would be ok walking in alone but she won't do it because of my father and his wife.

Re: tough mom situation
For the ceremony my mom walked down the aisle with a groomsman and at the reception she walked in with my younger brother. I think walking in with a groomsman is fine! My mom was widowed four months before my wedding and she was the same way about walking in. After mannnny conversations we decided this would be the best way for us.

I am not doing parent intros because my dad is very sick. Based on what you said tho, it doesn't seem like that's an option, huh?

Nope - FMIL and FFIL are insisting upon it. Also, when I mentioned to my mom that maybe we'll just do FH and I introduced in her response was 'and of course the BP, and then you HAVE to have the parents....' UGH!!
I've decided that at my meeting with the DJ on Wed night, I'm going to give him 2 different scenarios: (a) mom walking in alone; and (b) mom walking in with GM.
I'll tell him I have to let him know at CH what plan we're going with....
