According to an article in today's newsday, Tower records will be filing for Chapter 11 with in a week. The article says thatTower is unable to compete with all the discount stores like Walmart and Target, and also with all the illegal downloads of music.

Re: Tower Records
Instead of blaming other stores and downloaders... they should blam the record companies who charge exhorbitant amounts for each CD!
And since I'm on a rant, I hate that commercial at the movies... the one of the stunt guy who says that illegal downlaoding is affecting him... yea, suckks from him, but don't blame me! Maybe one of the 'stars' could get paid a few dollars less, or maybe the cast party could have a pound less of caviar- and they would have $$ to pay his salary. Or maybe it should not cost more to go to the movies than it does to go out dinner and then people will prefer to go to the movies. Hollywood is out of control!!!! And they are trying to brainwash us into feeling sorry for them! Boo hoo...

Re: Tower Records
WTF, i hate going to the movies now!!! i will admit, i do love previews, but i am not up for tolerating commercials!!! especially the one where the three guys are proud that they bought movie tickets onliine and then one guy checks out a hot chick in the front row and the other guy says 'dude that's a guy!' i HATE that one!!! i'd rather eat milk duds off the bathroom floor than watch a commercial at the movie theatre!

Re: Tower Records
Maybe if they didn't charge $25 for the same DVD you can get at Best Buy for under 20 bucks they would have more customers.
And as far as downloading music goes, why do they sell CD's for $20? At least Best Buy and Circuit City have lowered their prices to about $12 a CD. It makes it a lot easier to buy the CD rather then download them.

Re: Tower Records
i remember loving the wiz years ago, like the late 90's, b/c the cd's were all like 12 bucks!!! then tower jacked them up to 18.99 and then tax and only the new top 20 were 13.99!!! for 2 good songs! that was bull$#!&.

Re: Tower Records
The only time I goto Tower is to see the new car mags, and I dont even buy them...I just look, or if I have a gift card there. That store is the biggest ripoff.
