Hi all does anyone know if you need you certified birth certificate or can you just bring a copy? We want to go this week but I need to know if I can bring a copy or not??? Please help me!

I would play it safe and bring an original.

I just got mine a few weeks ago. It has to be a raised seal. You also need a valid license, ss card or passport.
In Queens we only needed our passports. Each place is different I would check online with the one you are going to. Some require certified checks, others take cash.

i went to the one in Long Island (near strip mall .. americana something). all we had to present was our driver's lic.
you could call the place to find out what exactly you need to bring and how much and form of payment. some places only accept a particular way of payment. cash, check, money order.. call ahead.

Call the town hall you are going to and ask. Better than having to go back again!

Town of Babylon you can use a passport instead of an original birth certificate.
